"Armageddon: any good ?" & Help needed with Druid character

I mean: seriously.

~

I have played the druid (as my third character), and based his build off one that I got at Planetdiablo (this was before the patch). A thing to note is that my druid here is the Elemental/Summoning druid (since the shapeshifters were common, I wanted something different) Although Diablo was a ***** to kill, Baal was a lot more easier (the only problem I had was ressurecting my barbarian helper; aside from that; Baal took a ticking from my Spirit of Barbs)

The patch hasn't really affected my druid that much, and, noting the existence of 'windy' druids, I'm thinking of going for that; with reliance on Spirit of Barbs instead.

However, the one skill I have the porblem with the most is Armageddeon. Hurricane was way easier to use. Sure, the monsters take a little longer to die, but they die anyway. And if they still don't; I'm sort of a melee elementalist, so, I just move up to them, and kill them, along with my partner. And if they hit me; I have the Barbs.

But armageddon; this spell requires a shower of meteros which are random, so, they do not hit the intended target, and, as far as hordes go; they don't hit each and everyone instantly; they take their time. I may be missing the point, but I'm more for Hurrinace.

~

That being said, I'm currently at Level 37, and I wonder how I should progress with my druid. Although I would love to play it out on my own; I'd love to hear a few suggestions.

My 41 points are as follows:

1 point in every skill of the elemental and summoning tree. (20)
5 points in raven- this may have been stupid; but they were a nic accompaniment) (4)
5 points in dire wolf- I'm partly a summoner, even though I'm focused on wind, and, thugh I may not use them wolves again; the points may synergise my bear (4)

The rest of the 13 points went into Cyclone, Hurricane Armour and Spirit of Barbs. Note that I'm less interested in maxing out on a particular skill (as the synergy benefit system might promote) than in creating a sort of a 'balanced' druid.

I suppose everyone will tell you that you are too far spread out to be effective in hell, but NM will work.

There are a few nice suggestion for dual elemental druids, but the will stop at maxing Firestorm and abuse the Moulten boulder synergy bug on a STONE armour, then also use Tornado, Hurricane and CA while casing your summons.

Armageddon, as all druid skills are very random and it needs you to be among the monsters...or them to follow you to get into the meteor rain. I would test it first as a free skill on a pelt.

If you have already invested in all skills however, that extra point won't hurt you.

Thanks man ! It's a pity the synergy tree makes things more difficult as it is.... but then again; it makes some gameplay better than others. And thanks for the suggestions !

Actually you can get away with about slvl 8-11 armageddon, the problem is understanding the skill itself. The skill drops meteors randomly around you, the number of meteors "seems" to increase with slvl. They also have a higher tendancy to hit behind your character. With my pure elemental build I used armageddon in conjunction with hurricane, the combonation worked well, my back was protected and my front was protected by tornados.

The key to using armageddon is getting the monsters to follow behind you, running circles around them is helpful.

@Det my dual elemental abused the stone armor charge bug, a pelt with +3 armageddon +1 elemental skills, and a number of other +skills to get the armageddon to slvl 11, it dealt ~1200-1400 damage with the synergies. plenty strong as a secondary skill. using a club of fissures can extend the duration of the armageddon skill, it also strengthens the firestorm skill, hence my want of getting a +3 elemental club of fissures. meteors falling behind you work best with that skill though.

Indeed credit for using a STONE armour should go to Uzziah. When I replied to the post here I forgot where I read about it...now I know ;)
