Use it in a spear barb. With a shael it will hit the last whirlwind breakpoint at -60. The combination of this speed, ignore target defense 50% deadly strike, range 4 (good enough for whirlwind) and decent damage will make a nice whirlwind baba. I was going to make this build but leveling to the 80's before i can put on the weapon is too tedious.

Do I need to put a Shael Rune here if I will wear Laying of Hands? I was thinking of an AMN rune for the life steal as if I decide to give it to a merc it will be a good wepon for either an Offensive or Defensive merc from NM and they will need the life steal. And of course the +4 to all skills is good for everyone. But your right lvl 81 is very far away and I do not have anything for a low lvl char (1-40) or a mid lvl char (41-80) to use before I can access this wepon. Any ideas?

Yes, since WW breakpoints are only affected by IAS on the weapon itself.

    I'd say merc weapon it.

With barbs being supposedly nerfed due to whirlwind going downhill, (whirlwind skill speed is dependent on the speed of the weapon and not other gear).

So you'd need shael to hit the last attack frame with whirlwind, if you're just meleeing; then laying of the hands is just as effective.

Is it justified to be building a lancer for that weapon... for me is a no. But you can try for the fun of it. Remember you will need decent gear to support this barb, I have a vague feeling you will have a hard time in hell in pubby games even if you do happen to lvl up to 81 to use it.

Whirlwind has been dependant on weapon speed since the expansion

Werewolves get a huge penalty when using spear class weapons, its not good for a werewolf.
Polearms are the weapons of choice for fury ww's.

edit: i looked it up just to make sure.

    ariocs by itself: 9frame fury
    ariocs with shael: 7frame fury
too slow for any hardcore wolf.
