Yea, it's a shame when ghtdlkpla drops due to timeout. Wish battle.net would sort that gear out or something

Re: argh!

Whoever made the screenshot, he's still in, so everything is fine with respect to that. The annoying part is that it's a nightmare game. I needed a while to find out what Doomboy's point was, however :azn:

Well... there are well-documented ways to hunt for DClone, and I would agree with many people that the activities involved seem pretty damn shady. But it's not shady at all to simply get to a DOS prompt and find out which server the NM game is in, and if you have some patience you can quickly join some Hell games and have a pretty good shot at finding that same server.

Of course you have to tab back to the DOS prompt and check each and every time you try a new Hell game, and it can take some time (time in which DClone could have already popped), but I have successfully re-joined a server so I know for sure it can be done. The method I used was this: instead of creating Hell games in which you would quickly get a temp ban, I just started joining Hell games from the Join list. That way you can join as many as you want with no probs, just give yourself a hard 10 count from the lobby to the next join.

This might seem like more work than most would wanna do on a regular basis... but if I saw that kind of msg count adding up, and a shot to get my first ever Anni, then I would give a 20-30min attempt at re-finding the server in Hell and giving it a shot.

Re: argh!

When the soj counter has started to go up quickly, you usually have a minute or two to get on the right server, so in most cases it's too late then to get a new game on it. Also, a big portion of the server will be occupied then, by those who paid the soj sale, so the chance to get a game on it at that stage is rather small anyway.

The typical way of getting dclone games (apart from participating in soj sales) is checking the usual web sites, to find out how many sojs have been sold since the last dclone walk on each server, getting a game on the most promising candidates and then waiting a day or two. I doubt that the organized sales heppen on the server with the highest count (it will be full of moochers like us :)), but on #2 or #3.

Anyway, I'm not going to waste electricity by letting my computer on all the day just to get a soj or two per month. When assuming that it needs 100W constantly, that's 2.4kWh a day which is about 60c a day here, respectively €18 a month... and not to forget, the computer will suffer from wear and tear as well. Last but not least, games often crash soon after the walk, so to be really effective, you either have to be watching all the time or you have a kind of hack which triggers an alarm or a bot which kills the dclone.

I will to none of all that. Getting dclone games in that manner is a waste of resources.
