Are you satisfied with the Diablo3 classes?

Barbarian, Witch Doctor and Wizard. That's what we have so far. Personally, I don't like any of them, but thats just me. They're not really my style. The Barbarian just looks like a human version of an orc and orcs are better. The Wizard isn't anything new either. It's just the Sorcerer with a different name. The Witch Doctor is interesting and kind of new, but some people have said it is too similar to the Necromancer. The Diablo staff has said that the WD is different in its own way that they could add the Necromancer in a possible expansion without them being too alike. So, there you have it. Are you satisfied with what you've seen so far?

What would you like too see added to these classes?

What would you like too see changed in these classes?

What unannouced classes would you like to see in the game and it's hinted expansion?

Have you ever played any of the Diablo games before?

I see this is your first post. No offense, but this thread really seems like it was randomly generated. Do you have any substantive reasons as to why you don't like the classes they've announced? Do you have answers of your own for your provided three questions?

Re: Are you satisfied with the Diablo3 classes?

You are right. I should back up my statements. I don't like them because they just aren't my style or my taste for any rpg/adventure game. However, just because I don't like them doesn't mean they suck. In games like Fable, Oblivion, Morrowind and Diablo 1 and 2 I have always been the dark ranger/assassin type of character as well as the warrior/knight. I just don't have a taste for magic all that much. I still tried out the classes in Diablo 2 that I wasn't too interested in though.

I don't favor the Barbarian because he just looks like a human version of an orc. I love orcs and It just bothers me to see humans that try to be like them. Yea, I know thats a stupid reason. It just psychologically bothers me. However, I think they look good so far. I don't really know what to add to them since I'm not too familiar with them though. But I am curious to see what those who love the Barbarian want to see from them. I'll be battling Barbarians in PVP, so it would be good to know all their weakness and strengths.

You know how I feel about the Wizard, but what do wizard fans want to see?

The Witch Doctor is kind of new, so its hard for me to say what I do and don't want from it. I am not familiar with voodooism either, so I don't have any ideals. He still is an interesting character to me even though I probably won't play him.

I would like to see a ranged/agile type of character. I would also love to see a character that wears cool heavy armor like a knight/Paladin type of guy.

Of course there are no orcs. But, I assure you that if there were than we would never see another Diablo sequel.

i agree, even after jimbob backed up his statements.. necros are very different from WD, do some research on all the characters and you will see, the wizard is a spellcaster, not an elementalist type who the sorceress was in D2. the barbarian is whoever you want him to be i guess, he is the warrior in d3( without shield skills?). i like orcs too, but they are as ugly as your post

Re: Are you satisfied with the Diablo3 classes?

Well, I've been hearing a lot about the Wizard being too similar to the Sorcerer, but I want to know what Wizard fans actually have to say.

I already said that the Witch Doctor was different than the Necromancer. You must have misunderstood me.

I am interested in your opinions about the classes. I also have ideals about which classes will get into Diablo 3 and which ones won't, but I won't get into that yet until someone has actually shared their opinion.I mean this is what this thread is all about and you guys aren't responding to the questions. Your just judging my posts. I wasn't very specific with my first post because I didn't want to write a lot and then later see that no one is interested in the topic.

To be honest I feel a bit disappointed in them so far. They are ok, but not really amazing or anything, and none of them have made me go, "Oh cool, I wonder if I can do that, and then use this." and you know, sort of get the creative juices flowing in how I may build my character. They have basically been:

Hit things.
Cast stuff at things.
Summon/cast stuff at things.

Whilst you will never get too far away from those base types, it's not really like they are doing any of those things in a really cool way. They are quite typical.

Digitalos, I feel that way too. I just couldn't express it in words.

Melee/Spellcaster/Range are the three basic combat types. Nothing new will be invented. You can only take some of these and mix them together. Then you can take that and add culture and characterization to it. Like the Witch Doctor for example. A spellcaster with culture put into it. So, what classes will we see next? I've been looking at other games and doing some research to get ideals for other classes, but I'll tell you what I found later. I'm going to bed.

yes i am satisfied^^ i realized that there isnt going to be much innovation in character classes in rpgs anymore because rpgs have been arround way too long for anything good not to be done yet and the witchdoctor class was more then i would have hoped for :) true, i was really disappointed when i saw the first gameplay trailer and there was this ugly, lame meattank running through those awesome looking game and using those awesome mechanics but that changed when i saw the second part with the witchdoc... i just love his style, i always liked the looks of the aztecs/incas/mayas traditional clothes and the spells themselves where awesome too... i also liked the wizzard and i think he is far enough away from the d2 sorc to offer me fresh gameplay experience... i liked every class in d2 exept of the barb (and the crossbow amazon) and as far as it looks that isnt going to change in d3 :)

yes i also liked the nec but their argument not to bring him back (at least not in the main game) was pretty convincing

I want a class with 4 arms, each arm represents 4 different unique spells, ie one can be melee and one magic one shoot arrows crap like that and u could attack them all at once casting tornado doing whirlwind and shooting multishot and one blocking with a shield or if u want u could have all arms combine into one tree so u would be super skilled in it and for example carry like 4 swords and then do a mega attack that does 4x dmg and stuff or if u choose the caster way 4 hands do like fire ball and it makes a big a$$ thing like kamehameha and blast ur enemies away or if u choose shoot a bunch of little fire balls rapidly like vegeta. then if u choose to hold only 1 wep make specific gigantic wepaons that specificly drop for ur super char with 4 arms. but only he could carry it and its like a huge tree trunk or a big ol chunk of rock that nothing can carry but him. would be nice to have 2 heads too so u and ur friends can get on at the same time and both control, like u control 1 half and friend control other. Hell Yeah.

complaining about D2 are we now :p ?? D2 is and has been since release the best arpg ive ever played yet.. d2 has great variation of characters, if u havent noticed there are only human characters, now there is a witch doctor... is he human ? i think its funny but i really like to play with humans. why play with an orc? i like to kill orcs, not be them as warriors.. i love barb, plain brute force as they call it.. and for the amazon, what is wrong with the amazon??? ive heard hollywood blonde, that might be a problem for someone, but cant complain when she is so damn sexy

Wizard is not similar to sorceress.. Well of course some people think it is but hey wtf its a caster.. spell caster yeah they tend to be kinda alike. But sorceress is a master of elements(ice, fire, lightning), wizard is controlling a lot wider area of things.

Well, the game isn't out yet, but if you've been following updates I think this is a blind statement. They have added some extra dimensions to these classes. It's hard to tell from your post if you really liked D2 or not. If you did, I'm really not seeing where you're going with the attitude of this thread.

For "meele" (the barbarian) they've gutted mana and are using a rage concept. This will make the pacing interesting and should make combat a little bit more complicated. They also seem to be expanding a bit more on how monsters react to stun and other effects. You'll notice in the gameplay trailer they touch base on how stunning the shielded skeletons makes them take much more damage then just rushing them head on.

With the "caster" it feels like they're trying to be original as well. You'll notice that there's some melee range spells, which means you aren't really isolated to the kite/destroy concept. Slow time looks like it will be a lot of fun and lets you be really creative when fighting against ranged units.

I can't tell you how to play or evaluate a game, but you really shouldn't have bias based purely on class concept or theme. A barbarian is a barbarian, they have been around in tons of different games and I'm not really sure where your orc argument stems from (you don't need to explain), but I wouldn't just completely shun the class that reason alone. The great thing about Diablo is replaying as the different classes...it's foolish to pick one and ignore or dismiss the others.

I like the barbarian and sorceress so far. Don't care much for the wichdoctor, but have no doubt that I will try it out anyway.

I'm satisfied with all three. I'm happy about the Witch Doctor.
I like the Necromancer archetype, but I haven't found a game where I can set bats on fire. That really did it for me :) It looks amazing.
Barbarian and Wizard are just fine. Nothing that really sparked my interest beyond Wave of Force for a second or 2 (Turning arrows was a nice touch).

Can't wait to see what they'll do for the open slots.

Are you satisfied with what you've seen so far?
No. I am overwhelmingly enthused.

What would you like too see added to these classes?
If you mean the current classes, then maybe the last tier of skills, unless I missed that update.

What would you like too see changed in these classes?
Not much of anything when I think about it. Maybe put them on my hard drive as contemplate selecting my newest char, but that's about it.

What unannouced classes would you like to see in the game and it's hinted expansion?
I would love a stealthy ranged / light melee. She can use bows for a ranged attack and maybe dagger or other light weapon focus for a hand to hand combat. The class can favor finesse and might have dodging possibilities.

For the fifth char, I'd like something never done yet. A monk might fit this as a medium melee with combo attacks. I haven't really given any 5th one much thought, but something new would hit the spot.

Re: Are you satisfied with the Diablo3 classes?

I think that by now blizzard had it quite easy with the class anouncements... in this kind of game it has to be a pure spellcaster (name it sorcerer, wizard or whatever), a pure meele (I think they said at the beggining they were creating a new class when they realized that it was just like the barbarian)... and the witch doctor, wich I think that is a great concept but I would like to see more of him to say if I like it or not.
The inflection point will be the next class... even if its something predictable as a ranger, which skills will combine his/her main weapon (the bow) will surely be something different to what we've seen in D2.
