Anyone played any Softcore this season?
I have... in building a new PK sorc and just running her through some tests to see what other chars to avoid, and I think I have it down and will be ready for launch in East HC very very soon. Thank god I build that Chanter early WOOT!
Anyhow, I noticed while PKing in Nightmare Baal runs that the Softcore community REALLY IS full of downright snot-nosed little brats! After Teleporting to the Throne FOR them and all, making a safe TP for them, helping clear out Colenzo through Bartuc, you would think you were the worst person in the world for hitting the hostile button.
What ever do I mean you ask? Ok....
1) You get called the "f" word over and over. I mean the one that is three letters and ends with g. And that's when they spell it correctly.
2) People call you a kid, assuming that only children PK legitimately. I was called, an "Imachure kid". No kidding! I'm imachure!
3) People taunt and taunt until you wipe out an entire throne room of players. Then after all the ears have dropped they wonder why they can't take their TP back into the throne to retrieve their bodies. I'll let the ones that know explain this one.
4) Just like in Hardcore, they leave and come back with their highest level character... typically a Full Tal Set MF Sorc (this stage of the season). I'm no fool, that sorc has about 156 Strength (to wear that SS they are looking for), zero block, around 150 vita and 150 mana. Oh yeah, and it's a Blizz sorc with 50% chance to hit you and one helluva cast delay.
Or they bring their MF Javazon in... WOOT! Softcore Zon = 156 str (for that SS!!!!), 300 dex, base vita and -60 resists in NM. Meanwhile, I'm built to PK a Superior Hardcore player 20 levels higher... and with "crappy noob gear" per the maphackers. Anyone wanna see screen shots of some 80-90 level ears? Then they STILL call you newb. ?!?!?! What? I'm a Newb? Let me NK you 2-10 more times, get the rest of that gold, and maybe drop some gear around your body and kill you again.
5) Just because your lucky Hammer happened to hit me, that does not qualify as OWNED. (Note: Avoid Hammerdins with this build) And when I kill 6 of the 7 other players and am chasing after you and you take a TP to town, you cannot spam over and over again, "You can't kill me! OWNED!" This again does not qualify as owned.
6) You cannot have your gold back, it's mine now
7) You will not be able to hack my account. And if your clan buddies wanna hunt me down and kill me, fine, great, I'll be happy to play along. Nobody in the history of D2 Softcore has ever lost their character because a bunch of kiddies wanna hunt you down.
8) "Bnet has been notified", and other similar comments used to disuade people from doing something Blizzard has encouraged for 4 years will not get you anywhere. Conversely, it only amplifies and magnifies your pinheaded perception of reality!
9) If you don't want to die, don't stick around when you see a truly professional PK join up. If you know them to be a PK, they are either out for your gold, testing a PK build for HC use (me), or are out to turn the plethora of Baal Runs into something more interesting... i.e., Baal Duel Runs.
These guys sound more and more like the whiners in Hardcore now that I think about it! Except these guys don't use Chicken Hack.
If you have not yet tried PKing in Baal runs, and I mean legitimately, give it a whirl. Softcore is a blast. But much like all parts of Bnet, the problem with Softcore, is that there are too many Softcore players there.
