Yeah..I know I should do that..but right now..its not in. So, either it is really good..or is it just new and crappy.

hard to get a rentable copy of new games, so seldom an option for the impatient
    or anxious gamers
read some reviews and if you walk into a gaming store next week and see 30 used copies of it *hint hint*

usually reviews are so one-sided and only have either all good or all bad, i wouldnt go to reviews... i would just wait to rent it, or buy it at a store with a return policy

I don't know what you're basing that on as I haven't had much experience reading such reviews, plus if you were to go to gamespot.com you could read reviews by players

    http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/thesuffering/review.html

    I'm reading it...
    flashlight? sounds very silent hill..
insanity meter? sounds very eternal darkness...

I would suggest visiting www.penny-arcade.com and seeing what Tycho and Gabe have to say about it. But I don't think they've mentioned it in any of their newsposts. As a fallback I would suggest asking in the game and technology forum of the same site, but only after checking for an already existant thread on the subject.
