Anyone made a Blizzard/Chain Lightning hybrid?

Just wondering if anyone has built a viable hybrid using Blizzard as primary attack & Chain Lightning as secondary (against cold immunes). Comments on skill pts allocation wd be gd. Thanks.

The problem here is that both of these skills traditionally are the dominant skill-point investments in a build. I think it would need to keep CL as the dominant skill and Blizzard as the one that suffers.

If I built this, I would do Max CL/L/LM/Bliz, Enough to get 17 in CM and the rest in Ice Blast.

It could be a very viable 2 tree build and would probably be a lot of fun to play. With fairly easily obtainable gear:

Shako
Maras
Occy
Viper magi
Lidless
Mage fists
Arachnids

you would get +9 to all skills

you should really have a pair of sojs on this build for +11

and an anhilus for +12 to skills

with this gear I would go with:

Fire tree:

Warmth (1)

Cold tree

Frozen Armor (1)
Ice bolt (1)
Ice Blast (1)
Frost nova (1)
Glacial Spike (20) 447-473 cold damage and 2.233 seconds freeze length in hell diff for crowd control
Blizzard (20) 2625-2753 cold damage
Cold mastery (5) with this gear gives -100 to monsters cold resist. (doubling your cold damage)

Lightening tree

Charge bolt (1)
Static field (1)
Telekinesis (1)
Teleport (1)
Lightening (20) 7-4916 damage (good for bosses)
Chain lightening (20) 5-2493 (good for packs)
Lightening mastery (1)

This build would be complete at level 82 and any skill points gained there after would go into lightening mastery

Hmm, Lightning and CL damage rely alot on masteries. THe more the better. This could done, but i would rather set the points like this:

15 Lightning
20 Chain Lightning
5 Lightnign Mastery

Will give you more CL damage while L is still very usable. This build will have problems doing 8p games alone, but no problems up to 4p agmes

Thanks for the tip! I knew I could count on you veterans! I'm just toying with this build since I like both CL & Blizzard. Right now my blizz lightning sorc is lvl 51, whooping a$$.

I could be wrong here but I seem to come across cold immunes more often than lightning immunes. Statistically, do cold immunes spawn more often?

And I haven't done the maths yet but which one will give u better cold dmg bonus to Blizzard?: 11 % cold dmg Ormus + 3 Ice Blast or a Skin of Vipermagi?

WEll the +3 Iceblast is nice for Iceblast itself, but that is about it. It wont count for synergies. Still Ormus would be better. Just adding +1skills will not raise Blizzard damage by 11%! Resistance reduction is taken care of by CM, so adding % damage would be good!

BUT then you loose +1 skills on your Lightning tree and that is NO good. You need all the +skills you can get there.

So stick with Vipermagi!
