Anyone know anything about putting a sunroof in?

So I'm thinking about putting a sunroof in my civic, for the summer... any ideas about roughly how much that sort of thing costs, buying the sunroof and paying for its installation?
In addition... anyone have any further thoughts why I should or should not do it? (I dont really know a lot about sunroofs... is it likely to need repair or maintence?)

Just tossin it out there. Thanks.

I didn't even know you could do this after you bought a car.

I thought you were going to put one in your house, in which case I could help.

Throw a PM to Newman and see if he responds.

well i live in new zealand, but its not to hard to get done, i really reallly really recomend going to a professional, cuase if you do one little thing wrong, it might mess up the structural safety of the car, and if its not sealed correctly rust happens too

but in new zealand to get that done cost like 700 dollars (like 350 $usa)

I want to say it costs around a grand to do. My brother had it done to his old 95 Talon. It was a smooth installation, and worked well. I don't think it really adds much resale value to the car though, but if you really want one, I don't think it's a tough installation.

For the summer? I think you mean permenantly.

Cost depends on the options you want. Powered or manual? Slide or tilt?

Well yeah, but I'm getting it done now, because summer is around the corner ;)

Powered or manual, I'm with ya there... dont really care, prefer power, but it depends on the price difference.... Slide or tilt? Not so sure what the difference is.

If I were you I would not get a tilt roof, its useless. And if the price difference on a manual roof is that much less than a powered one, I would go manual. It'll open a lot faster than a powered one, and its not too much of a hassle. But ask around a few places first, dont take the first offer you get.

I put one in myself in high school. Not very hard work and saved me about $750. Let me warn you tho, make sure you do/get quality work because a leaky sunroof is a real pain.
