Anyone know about PvP penalty and life leech?

Okay, trying to figure some stuff out, but I cannot remeber what the old PvP damage penalty was in 09 vs what it is now, and why it has seemed to nerf leeching so very much.

Did they nerf leeching aside fromt eh PvP penalty itself?

Okay, now that asked, I'm wondering about the viablity of a feral rage dueling league :D

Does feral get penalized by PvP nerf? It doesn't appear to be affected by the nm and hell difficulty nerf at all.

So anyways, I figured out that with all my current setup plus a very nice level feral I could be doing about 200% !!!! life leech very easily.

    suggestions?

    PvP penalty is 1/6

Your leech is now affected by the damage you actually do, vs. the damage before pvp penalty iirc, and then maybe there is a leech penalty as well.
Feral rage is nerfed like that too, but it is alright because the run speed is great against casters.

but shouldn't 200% leech be able to do something then?

    let's see:

    2k damage at 200% = 4k right, then 1/6 = 680 life leeched per hit?

cause 5k dmg at 45%ll in 09 took me about 2 1/2 hits to fill a life bar from almost nothing - this is at 4.7k life.

what's interesting there is that 5k at 45 ll would be 2250 then 1/6 would be ~380 per hit, which should be very noticeable on a life bar in most pvp situations, but I haven't seen the life bar move at all.

ink, what Fenris is saying is that it calculates off of the actual damage, not the listed.

So you might do 2000 damage listed, but when you hit them, they have 50% DR, and PvP penalty for damage comes into play, so you might end up with an effective 200 damage if you're lucky. I can't remember the penalty off the top of my head.

So then it would be 200% of 200, which is 400 x 1/6 which is 66.7. Not so great any more.

i really wish i knew the order of operations for this.

    at 2k dmg, 50% pdr - that's still 1k dmg x 200% = 2000 x 1/6 = ~380 . not great but noticeable.

also not worth maxing feral. time for this thread to die.

dont forget the 1/4 pvp damage penalty

    2k dam *1/4 penalty=500 damage

    500 dam. * .5(damage reduction gear)= 250

    250 dam.* .16= 40 LIFE LEECHED

ehhhhhhh? It's a 1/6 PvP damage penalty. Or do they have a 1/6 and then a 1/4? isn't that friking redundant coding?

    2000 x 0.17 = 340
    340 x 0.50 = 170
    170 x 2.00 = 340

Physical is 1/6th and Elemental is 1/4th for PvP Reductions. Those are Character to Character Reductions, things like Summons take full damage.

I bet stupid tornados get counted in at 1/4 don't they. :grrr:

so anyways, if I could attack fast enough with feral rage and my fcsoq - then technically I could be doing about 6.8k max damage at 200% ish ll when i switch back to fury. that's.... well over 1k Life leeched if i hit on the max side - but god knows those damn cryptic swords never do that.

    anyhoooo.

    eh?

    6800 x 0.17 = 1156
    1156 x 0.50 = 578
    578 x 2.00 (200% ll) = 1156 for a max hit.

also - if I were to manage 200% life leech and that much physical damage (which might be close to possible considering all the spare charms and whatnot that I have lying around - also, does deadly strike factor in to life leech?) and I was hitting someone at max and they didn't have any PDR, then I would be leeching 2312 per hit right?

don't tell anyone that druids can still leech in pvp...

but now that i think I've established that leeching can be done at levels comparable to 09 levels with the use of a uber feral rage, it's time to start thinking about that dueling league.
