Anyone ever try using soj cube recipe for rares?

According to the recipe if u craft a rare+soj=better rare? is that recipe even around anymore? If so has anyone tried it and gotten good results? Just wondering if it was worth it to cube a soj+a rare ring or ammy and hope for godly mods that can now appear (dual leech +skills etc.)

i used to remod a rare delarium in the old patch when sojs were really common. i believe it is soj + p skull + rare. I got some pretty good results i cant remember exactly what though... it just remods it, not necesarily making it better. I think it would be a little to expensave to try now though, expecially on the ladder

3 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = Add 1 Socket To a Rare Item
Rare Items can only have two sockets. You cannot add sockets to items that don't normally have sockets.

1 Perfect Skull + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = 1 High Quality New Rare Item of the same type
This formula has the possibility of creating a higher quality Rare Item than the following formula. ilvl = int(.66 * clvl) + int(.66 * ilvl) That is, the ilvl will be equal to .66 times your clvl (rounded down) plus .66 times the input item's ilvl (also rounded down).

I wouldn't recommend it though. . .

ya thats what i figured. what about on NL where tons of duped sojs are still around and sojs are relatively easy to get? and if i did try it what would you recommend i try it on? jewelry? weps (for crazy ed/+max dmg/ar mods)? circs?
