Anybody getting a WII this November?

I think that I might, I'd like a new console, but I can't bring myself to shell out the money for a 360 or the new Playstation. The WII is supposed to retail for $250 so that's pretty reasonable.

I'm looking forward to the new Zelda game.

My Gamecube broke (there went my dreams of a 'base HP the whole game' run of Paper Mario 2) last January. I'd love to play them again, and the Wii is backwards compatible. And it's cheap. And I can buy old games with it. And I like the idea of the new controller. If I get it this year, it would be for Christmas though.

Turb- If you play an hour a day it shouldn't be a problem. If you play 5 hours a day you'll beat it pretty quickly and can start studying again. And if you get it for Christmas you could beat it before going back to school, or at least before your first tests.

I've already visited Northern Ireland this year, I had enough WII for the rest of the year now.

It's PS3 for me  I never did 'get' Nintendo games, I can see the appeal but I don't find them enjoyable unfortunately :undecided:

I can't rationalize the amount of money the ps3 costs particularly when there are no games at launch that hold any appeal for me, but we'll see once MGS4 comes along

I got a gamecube for 30$ for the sole purpose of playing Twilight Princess.

The latest consoles really do not impress me. I can just wait for a while and the computer upgrades will overshadow them. Besides a certain MMO sucks up enough of my life.

I'll prolly be getting a wii first. Been so long since Ive played a decent Zelda game. Ps3'd be kooh too, but there's nothing special that's gonna keep me waiting a year for it to drop in price.

I don't buy consoles until they're at least one model behind. I only bought a PSOne a few months ago. I'm going to be buying a Gamecube ASAP, now that I have some money. Hell, I still have piles of NES, SNES, N64 and PSOne games to play, let alone the PC ones. I haven't even gotten a hold of Link to the Past, Majora's Mask or any of the Smash Bros. games yet.

By backwards compatible do they mean it is actually going to have ports for every different kind of cartridge?

No, it means you can download them from their online store. I still wish they would give people who have already bought the game to download it for free, but it'll never happen.

Meh, I can buy the original cartridges for that much... I'd rather play them on the genuine decks.

wii will play gamecube games, it's probably worth the higher investment given the difficulty in getting crummy old consoles to work, but if you're too glued to the excitement of blowing in cartridges and wiggling power connections 'til the thing turns on, then stick with it I guess

It's true, there can be a lot of wiggling involved. Especially with the NES - thank heavens I have one of the second-generation models with the topside slot, the original was really fiddly.

I dunno, it just wouldn't feel right playing Mike Tyson's Punch-Out with a fancy-pants new controller.

I mean, good luck finding a copy of chrono trigger or FF3 (6) for 5-10 bucks. Or at all.

You're right, I may end up giving up and getting some on a Wii in a million years when I can afford one. I also have the added difficulty that I can only play PAL games (I think Chrono Trigger wasn't even released in PAL, or maybe it was another one)... stupid NTSC...
