Looks like a pretty useless machine.

I don't know how much 36 million yen is, but; how's going to buy it?

There are a lot of crazy people in Japan, so it might even be a success.

    David.

    p.s.: Sponge bullets? haha....

I like it, but I have to imagine a government somewhere already has better developed or being developed.

Hey, don't knock it, next time you've got a Queen Alien to flush out an airlock, you might wish you had one of them...

332,820$ isn't too bad. The robot thing used for post-earthquake rescue is a few million.

On the discovery channel here in Canada last week they had a guy on that is making a mech warrior. He is in Alaska or something.

Honestly, they arent practical. Ive thought about it millions of times.

Perhaps for logging... but until they can fly or run like 100mph, forget it.

I read an article in popular science a few months ago that detailed a robot the U.S military is deploying to Iraq. It is remotely operated by a soldier (like a video game) and can be armed with anything from an M16 to a .50 caliber machine gun.

    Future of warfare I say.

edit: It doesn't walk though, it has a track for mobility.

This was on slashdot a while back... it doesn't even walk--it scoots along on small wheels under the feet.

i think it should be used in future wars (dont worry, humans will continue to have war against each other in future, its unavoidable)

i think its a good infantry/artillery support. specially with the rail gun. use it with tanks. it might be good for S.A.M as a support for tanks.
(hope someone doesnt notice where im going with this)

is it designed as a walking tank or just a display?

if they're gonna make them, they better make them sturdier, they look like they can topple easy.

im not saying a bunch of ppl could push it over, but if it got shot with a tank shell (at the top), and it tipped too much, it'd all be over.

I think that after getting shot with a tank shell, Mecal, tipping over is the least of your worries.

Tipping or not if it got hit with a tank shell it would all be over.

edit: Beaten to it. So ill add that between tanks planes and boats, we dont really have any room to fit a mech. Well we could, but it would be an utterly rediculous waste of money.

Two legs means it's easy for it to be taken down. Investing money in military research seems pretty odd to me.

Did none of you watch Star Wars? The walking... thing... on the snow planet.. place? Yeah.

well yeah, this is assuming of course that it has the strenght to take at least 1 hit.

I was just trying to think of something that is a projectile, and powerful.
