Another Question, sorry

Don't mean to be a bother, but i read somewhere on this thread that the Reapers Toll Scythe is not the best choice for the Act 2 Merc due to the Decrepify Spell that he can cast when he gets hit. Mt question is, how can you tell if the spell has been cast, and if he does cast it, can you just not recast over it? I do have a Bonehew, but its Socketed with 2 Amn's and i have to wait until i get enough Str on my Merc before i can equip it to him. Reapers or Bonehew? thanks again in advance! :howdy:

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew :drink: and feel free to raise some corpses.

You can tell by the blue clouds that are over the heads of the enemies. You can find a picture of what the visual for Decrepify is on this page.

Reaper's Toll has a 33% chance to cast level 1 Decrep on striking. So every third time your Merc swings he will cast Decrep. With Jab this means almost every attack. It gets annoying to have to reapply your curses almost every time your Merc attacks.

It can also be dangerous. If you have cursed ranged attackers with DV then the Decrep from Reaper's can make sure that you are once again the target of the attacks. This means you can die in the time it takes you to reapply your curses.

id say bonehew....my merc uses a 312 ed bonehew with fal and a 39ed jewel in it, and smokes just about everything he comes across.....and the 50% chance of bone spear on striking is a definite added bonus for him.

It's not the DV I'm worried about... if the Reaper's overrides a DV, then the ranged attackers are closer to him than they are to me anyway.

The thing I didn't like was my merc overriding my amp :) Sometimes this would even mean... I cast amp, physical immunity gone. Merc casts decrep, phyiscal immunty back...

My merc loves his +4 Ariocs needle. In fact, he likes it so much, some of it tranfers over to my skellies... his enthusiasm really gets my skellies to give the best they can.

Piercing ranged attackers are a pain in the azz.

True dat.

I prefer using a Bonehew or a Hone Sundan with my nec mercs.. Dunno which is really better, but whatevah..

Reaper's is a great merc weap for any other char than the nec though, prolly even the best.
