Annoying TPPKers

So I decided to play HC Expansion on east and things are roush at first as expected. I must have died 20 times before finally getting the hang of, "Don't stick around at 40hp, you CAN NOT die!". And so on my 21st attempt I made a poison nec and found this guy who was making a sorc about 1-2 levels ahead of me. We trist till 15 (He ran and I got exp shrines so we leveled out) and then we go to act 2 and tomb. This goes on till level 18 and we get this level 38 zealer to rush us to act 4. He says hes up to try Diablo so we let him and he gets iron maidened >> Deeds. So we go back to tombs and some random dude (*bodybags) named clownballoon joins and asks if we will help do the arcane sanctuary. Being the innocent little HCer I am I happily agree and join his game. So does my clan mate. We go to the wp and we start walking a path when he tppk's us with 50 arrows. Turns out I never looked at his level (I thought he was a sorc at first until later) or his name/account. So the next 40 games of me playing and dieing (Lagg, stupidity) he stalks me and tries to get me to enter his monster-filled town portals. I look at his level finally and he was 23 amazon. Gosh I wish i could go back and kill him.

I told you that story to tell you this story.

So this guy OrChld joins our game as a level 80 sin. I was skeptic but he helped us level our new chars to 24. As excited as I was to have a level 24 cleric (I change my build alot yeah?) I foolishly walk into a tp full of stygian dolls in act 3. Just as i die clown joins the game and laughs in my face. Guess they were friends :(

Boy am I miffed right now.

Hi, *Glimmer here - sorry I was unresponsive the other day, my comp was messing up and I had some girlfriend junk I was sorting out and was pretty AFK.

Anyway. I don't get this. So randomer joins your game, says: "come heKp wit Arcane keke?" - you join, you get tppked by him/her, then he/she stalks you for the next 40ish public games? Do I understand this correctly?

Wow. You may need some help cracking the public game habit. Yeah, the xp multiplier in high-count public games is addictive, but so's playing private games with a guy who has 4x cdkeys.

Message me when you're on. Pax et lux.

Edit: Roxor, what's your acct?
With that many cd keys combined... my smiter, leechers !? Raarrgh. If we have 2x hammerdins we can do uber levelling.

I know the feeling; installed D2 LOD again after a 3 year break from the game. Went back to playing HC right away and got my orber up to 45 and was kicking some tail. As a full; I joined a Baal game even though I could clear act 5 myself easily. Was a lvl 92 sorc and some assin, he orbed/tped dead. I came back to D2 assuming the hacks were gone, looks like I was wrong. Started another soc, tppked again by a frostnover. LOL; so once I get to 30 again I will do private games from now on. Tired of the cheaters.

I'm on EastHC as well; look me up: Magic_Lotion.

You still have not learned about hc and pk.

You have no and I mean no chance with TPPK in hardcore.

1 second your alive and the next your dead. You cant run away or charge. You just die.

The way it works is that the cold sorc fires a spell at you, takes a tp to town and hostiles you. The spell hits you and you die. This all happens in under a second and he is in town when you are hit and die. Nothing you can do!

Cold sorcs have a skill (Cold Mastery) that that lowers your resist against their cold spells so you have -100 against them. The spell might do 10k damage and is doubled by your -100 resists. So you take 20k damage. Not many can survive that.

I might play in public games when just a babe (under 9). After that I go private with password and only trusted friends can play with me. You should do the same.

The only other time I might play in a pub game is in the permin games where everyone else is lvl 1->10 and I am level 50 or more and I play in act 4-5. I will go to town the moment anyone who could be a threat joins and if they dont leave soon I leave the game.

HCKull is exactly right.

As most peeps said, try to get some friends to play with..

However, everyone must start somewhere so I present my thoughts on for survival on hc . In no particular order , flavor to taste :)

Here is some general tips to staying alive on Hardcore. In no particular order.. I still lose characters on rare occaison, but boast 5-6 high level toons and several Guradian Tags. (One of them being impossible to tppk by a sorc)

the "stuff", some may be obvious, some not.

Try to avoid partying partying chars that are much higher in level then you.

When doing public runs (baal) , you will run into TPPK's , this is a fact of HC.
The Most common PK is the Cold sorcy. They usualy use Ice bolt/blast
Wind Druids, Zons and Bone Necro are the other common ones. When you know your going to be doing many runs, Change your gear to maximize your res. even if it means losing damage. Typicaly runs consist of 1 Killer char, and a bunch of leachers. Dont worry about killing stuff.. PACK on res gear/sorb and sit in a corner away from the other people and not in line of fire with the monsters. If someone is shooting at you and there isnt monsters by you, move outa the way.. They are probaly trying to kill you.Suspect everyone. Before every run I drink 5-6 thawing potions to temporaly increase my cold res to its maximum. This can be prebluffed just like anidotes can with poison. Keep a couple on your belt, and fill your inventory with res charms, namely cold. Keep in mine cold mastry lowers your res -100
Behold the beauty of saphire packed shields and armor

Dont be the first guy through a portal. Wait for another guinea pig.. You never know if there's a pack of dolls or Souls, pk waiting for that first noob to go through.

Another trick the pk's do is they will ask you some random questions in order to get you to stand there for a sec to tppk you. I say Move away before you answer and dont take your eyes off the screen.. Or you could ignore the pubbies altogether.. PK " Wow that sorcy of yours sure looks nice, what build are you (starts spamming death at you ." UnsuspectingYOU "I'm a Blah (noobPker has hostiled you) blah , DEEDS..... PK, "Haha noob you die I'm so leet for using this chickenship script to kill people 40 levels below me with my glass cannon build, PWNZERS"

Treachory and lastwish offer CTC to Fade. A good place to do this is the River of flame in Act4. Instead of waiting in town , run to river and fade (by standing in the Fire just after wp). This is another great boost to your res. Dont forget Fort will give you chilling armor

Mule often.
If you find something cool , mule it.. last thing you want is to lose an inventory full of good gear because some noob hacking tppk killed you.

When starting hardcore , try to get a couple chars going. That way when one dies , you have another running. This way you dont feel like your starting over from scratch.

People that hostile you that are close to your level are only doing it because they know the cards are stacked in their favor. They are probably grushed and have all the anya and skill quests done. Not to mention near prefect gear and a killer charm collection. On top of that they may even be using Chicken , so you cannot win/kill them anyway. (unless you can 1 hit them)

Dont be afraid to quit when in doubt.. Live to fight another day. I hope this helps and you are successful in getting that coveted Guardian title.
If anyone else has tips, do share.

~Sara
I humbly submit a ss of one of my accounts that it is doable :) ( I've a few more high Hc's on other accnts)

I just managed to get my skelliemancer to 42.
every game somebody got hostiled, i immediately left

I also never tell ppl where i am unless they're my lvl or a character class wich i dont fear at low lvls '(ie i fear palas & sorcs...)

I managed to tag along in a good game called act 5
8 player game, then we went to a private baal running, got from 25-42 in one treck :)

Yeah I started another meteorb and got her to 30 after a couple of enchant games and soloing. No more pubbies for me unless I am the highest lvl :D Wish me luck on my mfing, so far I've gotten the main resist to 75 so hopefully I can start finding some more useful crap until I am a much higher lvl.
