Angelic vs ravenfrost?

hey all, everyone says to use angelic rings and ammy for a zealot, but I was just comparing a little, and is it that big of a difference? Assuming you can get 19-20 dex ravenfrosts which ALSO add 240-250 to AR, wouldnt the cannot be frozen be more valuable if you dont have access to a Cham rune? Maybe its just because i'm only a lvl 45 so angelic rings are giving about 600 AR each, but then that means around 1100AR eah by the time I decide to stop lvling my char (around mid high 80's). What does everyone think? I've been asking a lot of zealot q's lately so bear with me :wave:

why dont u use 1 angelic ring and 1 ravefrost?

because then the AR that the anglic gives is REALLY negligible. The whole point is to use 2 to get a huge AR bonus, but I just think that 2000 AR wouldnt be worth it when I could use maybe ravenfrost, a highlords or skill amulet, and maybe even another ring like leech, or dual ravens. and get about 800AR out of the deal too - maybe more.

well lets consider:
2x perf ravens
1x perf metalgrid(noice!)

20 dex = 100 ar
so now we have 350+350+450 = 1150 = about 1 angelic ring and the amulet
but!
metalgrid gives 35% res all(remember we assume perf) so thats 7 small 3/20/x charms so add 140 ar...thats still not close in the ar dept really...but assuming those charms are perf...you also get 140 more life(compared to 105 in angelic combo) and added defense(none in angelic combo)

so i say its up to you, if you can get a perf metalgrid and those crazy charms, it might be the way to go

is metalgrid really better than, lets say, maras?? The Def isnt that big of a deal, and assuming i wont use the charges lol, its just AR and resistances. I know you chose it BECAUSE of the AR to make up for angelics, but at what point does AR become that important of a factor? For example, arent i going to hit close to as much with 21K AR as opposed to 20K?

sure youll hit almost as much with 20k ar as with 21 k ar, but metalgrid gives 450 by itself, then multiply that by zeal(200% enhanced ar) fanat(+135%) and any gear(we'll say 100%) which means a total of 435% increase which means:

450 * 5.35 = ~2500 ar...this is a considerable difference... then when considering the difference between angelics, and say a maras amulet with only 1 raven frost...we are looking at a difference in ar of around 12k:

2500 + (10*5(50)) - 250 + (20*5(100)) = 2200* 435% = 11700

that IS a MAJOR difference

hmm. well i guess all i can do is test a few combinations, see what works, see what gear I can actually get too. Thanks for the help.

depends on who you are dueling. If you are dueling a barb or paladin and don't have great ar, then go with angelic. If you are dueling anyone else, use a highlords and 2x ravens (or one and a good rare or something). Point is, use different setups. I know I don't keep just one setup vs. everyone. I would get slaughtered if I did that.

how is it an exploit? It has been around ever since I can think of, and you give up other valuable mods by using those jewelry slots. It most certainly isn't bm, because many characters need the ar, life, and damage to mana.
