Amazon, kinda low damage :(

Hi,,

couple days ago, i made a bowazon (strafe main attack).
Now, lvl 54, nightmare and my damage isnt that HIGH, low damage
My setup:

Lore
Witchwild string
Lionheart
Amuler 13 Light resist (-_-).
2 bow, 10 ias 3 life leech gloves.
Cathans
Razortail
Manald ring
Gorerider

Switch:
Buriza.

Stats:
85 STR
155 DEX
60 VIT
BASE energy

30 left

Skills:
5 multishot
20 strafe
9 valk
4 all dodge thingies.

Damage:
99-312 damage with WWS Strafe
310-1154 damage with Buriza Strafe

Yeah, maybe some huge gaps in my eq, but if an 54 ama can't beat a couple of monsters in nightmare, i will quit now.

So how can i kinda improve my amazon's damage ?
Say items plz :)

The damage seems kind of ok, if it is before might merc activates (you are using might merc, are you?), but your gear seems slow. Get a treachery armor and drop the lionheart and reach 9/2 on WWS by any means necessary. Faster firing = more arrows per second = more damage per second.

I don't know the breakpoints for crossbow off-hand, but reach a fast strafe breakpoint and use that until you can actually up the WWS.

If you can get a cats eye amy go for it, is lvl 50 IIRC and give nice bonus, ias, frw, dex.
About skills you need to bump penetrate for better chance to hit, maxed on wws zons are easy since they dont need critical.
With razortail belt you need a lvl 9 pierce skill for 102% chance to pierce, go for it too, worth the few skills lvls.
Some ppl like goreriders but My preference is for war traveller boot, the added dmg works better IMO.
Last thing i remenber is that valk, lvl 17 skill is the target if you plan to use it in hell(and so good ally deserves to be maxed ).

I got a cats eye atm :D and i have goreriders, just need to pump a few skills in pierce then ! ty m8, my valk is 20 (pwnage)

edit: got a vamp gaze now too, for the 16 DR and i put in a IAS jewel, just for the extra touch :)

There really is no better way to up your damage effectively than to use a better bow. Sure you can nickle and dime your other gear but ultimately you will end up upgrading your bow. Couple of options.

  • Upgrade the WWS as others have suggested. A Lum and a Pul is somewhat expensive to spend on a WWS IMHO, and I would only suggest this upgrade for those who have an abundance of the runes.
  • Obtain another U/S/R/M bow. Goldstrike Arch is another decent bow. Upping a GSA will give you a surprisingly good bow in Hell for its cost. If you're looking for something cheaper don't underestimate Rares or even blue Magic Bows. You can get some sweet damage if your lucky with a Cruel mod.
  • Make a runeword bow. Harmony is one of the cheapest requiring only a Ko as the highest rune. It will be more difficult to find a good socketted bow to make it from but well worth it. This is probably the best option for those on a budget and you'll be hard pressed to find anything comparable in its class.
Looking at Strafe sequences for a [0] WSM bow like the Short Seige Bow that WWS is made from, you'll probably want to reach for 90IAS to get your 2frame Strafe shots. Otherwise I wouldn't bother with sacrificing gear to shave one or two frames off the whole sequence.
