Amazon Dilemma...

Amazon Dilemma...

Hi everyone, finally got my account sorted out, so now I can post!

I've got a question that I hope someone could help me with.

I've made a lightning fury Amazon to finally put that 199% Titans of mine (which I *found*, no less!) to use. She's currently level 50, in the process of maxing out:
- Lightning Fury (maxed)
- Charged Strike
- Valkyrie (~20 after +skills)

Now, my question is this: where should I put points into after these 3 skills have been maxed?

I am currently thinking about 3 routes:

1- Pure Lightning
- Max out Lightning Strike and one other synergy.
- Good lightning damage, but will do poorly against lightning immunes, and can do nothing against LI/PI

2- Lightning/Poison
- Poison Javelin 20
- Plague Javelin 17 (at level 99)
- Allows for dual-elemental damage, more versatile, and can deal (theoretically) with anything that isn't LI/PI/Poison Immune.

3- Javelin/Bow
- Strafe 20
- Would allow me to use that Hellcrack of mine, and I just like strafe.
- Better crowd-control and damage vs non-PI compared to Lightning/Poison route.
- More options: play as a tank or as an archeress.
- Problems: can't do anything against LI/PI.

My aim with this char is to build a well-rounded char optimal for PvM. She needs to deal out good damage, but also need to be able to survive. I might use her for cow runs or rune findings.

I am non-ladder, and I have decent gear, though by no means rich. I don't have access to any high runes, the highest I have is 2 Guls.

Any help would be very appreciated! :)

if you decide to go strafe backup, do not max. your gear should have + skills for max light damage anyway and it will not increase your damage that much. you would be much better off spending those skill points in lightening synergies to pump up that damage. also you should put a point in jab very soon. works wonders against lots of enemies unless you have iron maiden on you.

I have jab, actually, as well as D/A/E etc. Just didn't mention these basic skills. :)

What level is a good strafe level? I've tried using Endless Hail (+5 to strafe), which gave me a level 7 strafe, which is supposed to be 10 shots, but it doesn't seem to shoot that much...

As for synergies, the only worthwhile one is charged strike (unless I max out lightning strike). Lightning fury synergies seem pretty worthless at 1%, and charged strike is really only useful against the BIG opponents.

actually you can run around CSing everything except big packs of tiny guys. I Enjoy it a lot. Give it a try. 7 sounds about right. I forget which level exactly brings you to max arrows.

The way forward for your character really does depend what you want to do with her.

If youre going to trawl through act3 hell for runes then you need a viable answer to LI.

If your going to do cow runs and pit runs you can get by without spending too many skill points on non lightning skills.

A simple wand of lower resist(level 2) on swap can break the lightning immunity of quite a few LI if only for a second or two .You can get them in the shops and are level 36 requirement I believe. Possession of one can certainly delay spending skill points for quite a few levels.

In my experience the number of LI/PI creatures are extremely small and not worth worrying about. On the one occasion I met a LI/PI boss in the maggots lair blocking the only route through to the staff chest I just teased it back to a room and smartly walked round the 'little chap'.

If the worse comes to the worst the right weapon in your mercs hands can do the damage to these PI/LI.

If your dead keen to have a go anywhere do anything amazon (in HC certainly) you need to max resists and max defence and think about absorb.

Strafe can shoot 10 arrows MAXIMUM. In 1.10 blizzard changed strafe to increase in MINIMUM # of arrows as you increase the skill. I believe the formula for min arrows is (strafe level / 4) + 2

therefore a level 20 strafe will shoot at least 7 arrows, even if it just one target

this is why guided arrow is near useless in 1.10 pvm

Interesting... I didn't know that. That would explain why endless hail shoots so few arrows.

On a side note... I found a t-god today from a meph run! Unfortunately, it had to be eth... :(

you need max pierce for LF. you can then put @1 pt in magic arrow and @5 in multishot, allowing you to use a bow/xbow.

personally, i feel jab > all other melee spear skills.

i'm having a lot of fun atm with max pierce, wf, and 1pt magic arrow. it shoots fast and pierces, costs almost no mana, and doesn't use arrows. oh yeah and it works well against phys immunes. (not as well as lf, but it's way cheaper.)
