Does anyone remember the amazing poleaxe that was posted here a few years ago? It was an eth rare with a zod and two ruby jewels of alacrity. I'm now thinking that maybe it was a reaper's roll.

Now that I'm worried that it's a unique: the main argument I was making on the D3 community forum was that rares played a big role in the D2 item meta-game. Does anyone have a rare item that rivals uniques in D2?

My main idea was that rares were a big factor in late-game D2. Whether I'm right or wrong, your insight on D2 might inform the other discussion on D3.
