Amature amazon questions

Well i just started playing Diablo yesterday so these questions may sound REALLY nooby >.>

Well i've got a lvl 30 javzon, i put around 1 into every jav skill and then the rest on critical

I'm just wondering if javzons use both throwing type skills and melee type skills or do they just use one?

And if its not to much trouble, Could you guys recommend any good javilon skills i should be putting points into?

Also, i heard that str and dex can increase amazon damage, but, it seems every time i put 2-3 into str , my dmg goes up by one...is it worth putting stat points into them?

As for throwing javilins, do most people just use the javs that you can get at npcs(which i think are a bit weak) or do they use those unique ones?
But wouldn't they run out quickly? or do they just wait for them to replenish?

I'm also wondering if anyone can recommend me a site which allows me to look up what monsters drop certain items?

Any help would be much appreciated

Depends on what you wanna focus on. For the typical lightning javazon, Lightning Fury is the general "kill everything on screen" skill, and Charged Strike is the boss killer. I would avoid putting points into Critical, since that only works on physical damage. Look at the build guides for more detailed information.

Also, i heard that str and dex can increase amazon damage, but, it seems every time i put 2-3 into str , my dmg goes up by one...is it worth putting stat points into them?
For javazons (and most other characters), stat points shouldn't be spent for damage. In most cases, it's only the bowazons that spend points on dex specifically to get more damage.

As for throwing javilins, do most people just use the javs that you can get at npcs(which i think are a bit weak) or do they use those unique ones?

The unique javelins are ideal, but if you don't have them, it's not too big a deal. The replenishing is fast, but an occasional repair/refill might be needed if you throw them like crazy.

I'm also wondering if anyone can recommend me a site which allows me to look up what monsters drop certain items?
Look up the program ATMA. While its main feature is muling for single player, it has a really nice built-in drop calculator.

I didnt know that either until I started my new LF/PJ zon. She rocks so far. Granted I'm still in normal difficulty, but anyway. D: I've been playing on /p8, and I can kill pretty much anything without much difficulty with my Plague Javelin. I plan on going 20 Lightning Fury/Plague Javelin/Poison Javelin/Charged Strike(I think that's right). Right now I'm at 13 Poison Jav and 9 Plague Jav. I usually just get all of the mobs together in a huge group, throw a plague jav in there, and let my merc clean up. Works pretty good. Dunno if my rambling help, but I hope it did. Good luck.

As he states above, Lightning Fury and Charged Strike will be the 2 skills you will want to use exclusively. You will find that poisons do nice damage early game but once you get to Hell mode difficulty around level 70 or 80 and up, they simply don't do enough damage fast enough. Invest points into the synergies of those 2 skills.

As for Critical Strike, you will get more bang for the buck with Pierce than Critical Strike. Every time a javelin thrown with Lightning Fury hits a monster, lightning bolts split from it. Pierce allows that 1 javelin throw to hit again and split again, and hit again and split again, etc. Most of the damage from using those 2 lightning based skills come from the lightning damage that the skill provides, not the actual javelins (the wooden ones you carry). They are separate eventhough they are applied at the same time. Critical Strike only affects physical damages. It won't boost the lightning damage. Once you've maxed out Lightning Fury and Charged Strike you will see the lightning coming from both those skills complete dwarf the damage coming from your javelins. Which comes to your next question about javelins...

The javelins don't really matter too greatly. Better is better, obviously, but the difference isn't anywhere as noticeable as with other weapons that other characters use like melee or bows. Just make sure you have enough mana steal and a decent stack size. Replenish is a good mod to get on them if you're shopping for one. Charsi will also imbue some pretty decent ones most of the time. Remember that most of the damage you will do will come from the sparks flying off those javelins, not the javelins themselves.

Also, I would invest in some Dex. It helps with blocking.

As the player of 80+ FL javizons...

Put only 1 point into JAB. It, and crit hit is all the melee you'll ever need. If get to close, run away, and hit with a thrown jav.

I ususally do 4:2:1 crit/pene/peir and 1 into all others, except valk, which usually goes to 9 or 10, while I score + to passive skills equip. ( I always shoot for lvl 8 first( she gets a lance ), then lvl 17 ( she gets a war pike )

I start with any jav I can buy that has replenish quanity, and keep it for backup, and look at every jav that drops. Main damage jav is usually a +1 to jav skills mat.

Look in Haragoth shop, you can get +100 to poison javs, which also do the jab damage too! Again, always keep an eye out for the most powerfull ( i.e. average damage ) replenish quantity javs.

I traded 6p gems for Titans, and 4p gems for Thunder.
BEG for a sigons shield (+1 to skills )

Remember mana is your friend, i.e. all mana gets converted to damage to monsters to experence. Drink mana pots like a sailor in a whore house. ( I keep two full health, 2 cure poision and 2 super juvies in my inv, and fill my belt with mana pots.

ATMA has a drop calculator, but this one is dated, but still works:
http://web.archive.org/web/20070101015638/http://www.d2data.net/

As for stats, Id get STR just up to the best armor you can find with + to mana, and Life at 35 max, and energy at 35 max, everything else into Dex which impacts weapon damage, and **Attack Rating** the ability of lightning strikes to land.

at lvl 35 you can do cow runs by yourself.

Re: Amature amazon questions

Ahh thanks for all the help guys

I'm currently lvl 71 and i also have Titans

But i still have a few more questions >.<

Well i'd like to focus my zon more towards PvP then PvM, so should i still put 1 into every passive skill?

Another thing with that stat stuff, i recently said that str only increases my dmg by 1 every 2-4 points, but now it increases by 2-4 every point. Is it still worth getting, it doesn't seem like dex is increasing my spear dmg that much =/

I also watched a few javzon pvp video and i saw that they mainly used charge strike, i recently maxed charged strike(+8) and a titans jav, and i'm still not doing the dmg that is dealt to other players in many of the videos i saw. My question is, is there any other way i can increase my charge strike dmg? I can't increase the skill lvl any more and i can't find a any better weapon. Am i supposed to use charms to increase the dmg?

I observed in many of the video is saw that there zons can attack at almost 2x the speed of my attack >.>"

I'm wondering if there are any items or charms that can increase attack speed?

Also, i attempted pvp but many other players that were only around 10-15 lvls higher then me dealing over 2-5k per hit, at lvl 71, i only have around 900 hp, even when i hit 99 i probably wont even survive one hit, i'm wondering if theres any way i can increase my max hp, by items/charms, or do most people just pump a whole bunch of vit?

I also saw a few amazons using barb buffs and teleport, what item enables these skills?

Sorry if these questions sound quite noobie , but i've only been playing for 4-5 days >.<"

Wow. Good luck with PvP considering you've been playing for 4-5 days only so far. I'm no Pvp'er so won't comment.

Enigma (Jah+Ith+Ber) gives any class the teleport skill. Barb buffs are provided by Call to Arms (Amn+Ral+Mal+Ist+Ohm).

Yes. This shouldn't be too hard to figure out. The first point you put into any passive skill nets you such a great bonus it would be silly not to. Some don't bother with Decoy and Valk, but it's only 2 points and they are very useful with just 1 pt each.

Another thing with that stat stuff, i recently said that str only increases my dmg by 1 every 2-4 points, but now it increases by 2-4 every point. Is it still worth getting, it doesn't seem like dex is increasing my spear dmg that much =/
In the end the total damage boost you get from stats will be negligible next to the damage that you will already be doing with the skills that this becomes irrelevant. Spend stat points on strength to wear your gear. Nothing more. Dex to get 75% block (this depends on your shield, hover your mouse over defense rating to find out, and it drops slightly everytime you level). The rest of the stat points put into Vitality.

I also watched a few javzon pvp video and i saw that they mainly used charge strike, i recently maxed charged strike(+8) and a titans jav, and i'm still not doing the dmg that is dealt to other players in many of the videos i saw. Most of the people you will see in videos are showing off zons that have really good gear. Mostly alot of +Skill items, +Lightning Damage, -Enemy Lightning Resistance. There are many guides on this website. It sounds like you haven't read any of these. You should be able to get alot of answers from reading just one of them.

Did you read the information on the skill button? Some people first playing this game overlook the fine print.
Charged Strike Receives Bonuses From
Power Strike: +10% Lightning Damage Per Level
Lightning Bolt: +10% Lightning Damage Per Level
Lightning Strike: +10% Lightning Damage Per Level
Lightning Fury: +10% Lightning Damage Per Level

I observed in many of the video is saw that there zons can attack at almost 2x the speed of my attack >.>"

No charms give IAS. Many gear items such as hats, gloves and belts give IAS. Again, refer to one of the many guides to find out which.

I don't know what other games you have been playing but I don't recall any that I can just shrug off 10 levels and think it won't make a difference. 10-15 lvls higher is a world of difference. The game calculates your chance to hit and chance to block based on level differences. Even 5 levels makes a big difference, especially before hitting level 80, after 90 meh not so much. This is not to mention the fact that you are missing alot of skill points your opponent has which further increases their damage, or stat points that bolster their health. This is not to mention the fact that there are some pieces of equipment you can't wear yet that they may be using which furthers their damage.

Items that drop in the game have the possibility of coming with mods that alter almost every aspect of your character that you can imagine and quite a few that you would never imagine, and some that even long time pros of this 10 year old game are still trying to figure out exactly how they work. Both +Vitality and +Health items are very common, both randomly generated drops as well as unique/set items. Again, refer to one of the many guides already written.

I also saw a few amazons using barb buffs and teleport, what item enables these skills?

Sorry if these questions sound quite noobie , but i've only been playing for 4-5 days >.<"
I'd also have to agree with Slayer. My suggestion is play some PvM (actually, play alot of PvM). You will learn alot about the game and it's mechanics and how things work far quicker than being beat on by other players repeatedly and being discouraged. But that's your call. I'll leave you with one other reference website that is probably a good place to start. Many quick questions answered there.
