Am I the only one who groans when a pub game is full of smiters?

It seems that every pub game I go to, the bnet smiters are not using grief, or even astreon's, but are all using last wish as well as a fade prebuff. Basically, the nature of smiters also enables them to stack/sorb easily, and almost nothing short of a max dr necro/hammer based pally can take them out with regularity. Now I finally understand why so many bnet people think that smiters are the godliest pvp characters. It isn't hard to be when you have fade to stack, tgods/snowclash/hotspurs/other max res/stack gear and an unblockable attack that has a chance to cast life tap. Add that to dracs/exile, and it is a one in five chance. Add that to the potting, and I can understand why smiters are "godly".

Sorry, this isn't really a rant, but I just want to see if others face the same problems. It has always been there, but these days more people fade prebuff than ever before, and are more inclined to using life tap.

I can see how it would be annoying for any element based character. But then, sorbing, potting, towning is just what happens in pub games.

IMO every smiter thats not able to tele smite fairly well is a freekill ... more or less.

With fade prebuff and last wish/dracs/exile, a hdin/necro can still take them out, but several bad matchups become much more winnable for the smiter. Windys can get their minions life tapped, as can necros. Their skill level doesn't increase, but they can now make a lot more mistakes and still survive. Not to mention other Gm smiters or melee characters will get literally raped.

That's true I guess, but I don't ahve a barb free to Bm them with, so it gets extremely irritating after a while.

I have fun with so many smiters when I come in with my barb. Although it would be hard for a sorc, but any good sorc can take down any noob smiter who just has the gear, but no skill.
Let them keep making smiters, where am I going to get my gold from?

Still, fade prebuff means they can drop dungos for max dr, while life tap means anything short of perfect WWs means the smiter is going to be back at full life. I do agree that a barb has the best chance of any melee character, but even then the margin is much smaller than before. Of course, I could sink to their level, but using life tap to win in pvp is really low.

Yeah, but I can't complain about hacks, because I can't see if they are using those, but when you see a smiter with both defiance/might auras with fanaticism, it gets really sucky.

Yeah, but without going into ethics, LT is generally considered unacceptable by most peoples' standards, hence the lack of LT wands etc. The point is that there is an unfair advantage that most people do not use/cannot bring thesmelves to use.

Life Tap is the safety net of poor skill. An entire string of poor play can be made up in 1 or 2 hits.



To your point, yes, there are way too many players like those you described.

I find dueling them boring, but for my ww/ls sin they are usually no danger.

last wish smiters are the easiest bvc pray, they do pathethic dmg .

chainlocking is so easy ... center your cursor once and there the chainlock goes.

Ouallada - just curious. What character do you play that smiters give you such trouble? I thought you had high level mage? Hammers wreck smiters.

And fade can be exploited by anyone. I see more fade pre-buffing barbs/hdins than I do smiters.

If I really want to annoy smiters (and lets face it, who doesn't?) I put a doom on my libby. Its lame, but its also very funny.

i remember that some smiter did this to me i did nto even bother duel i just returned with barb, it was 2 ridiculous ^^

Also on my barb i carry a lifetap wand for bm situations or pescky summon necs although i want a bo stick with lifetap i ve been searching for one of these for ages..

I wait until another player kills them (won't take long usually because of hammerdin hype) and I nk them =]

Of course only incase they fully sorb all my attacks or nk/pk me, whatever ...
