Am I Crazy?

bow cast on striking zon (bow caster zon)

i'm currently lvl 76... my damage sucks, but it's funny as hell to watch.

equips:
delerium death mask (11% to cast lvl 18 confuse curse on striking)
Hellmouth Gloves (firestorm & meteor cast at a certain % upon striking)
Carrion wind ring (twister to cast on striking)
Wisp projector (lightning on striking)
atma's sarab (amp damage curse on striking (lvl 2))
the one bow that has a chance to cast meteor on striking

(i currently have all the above equips and don't plan on changing anything but the bow and maybe the ammy)

goldstrike arch (fist of heavens on striking) (possible switch)
dragon armour (chance to cast hydra on striking)

I'm hoping to grab a dragon armour for my zon... but have a few things that are bugging me...

1. I could be frozen... which can be a big problem with attack speed... should i use duriels shell or just stick with dragon?
2. no mana leech (unless dragon has that, which i didn't check)... what to do? (change mercs and use my spare insight?)
3. damage... i'm thinking on just getting a faith RW grand bow with +3 skills or whatnot for the damage part... but not sure if i'd rather have damage or a lightshow...? (i currently have this one crossbow that does good damage on switch)
4. what belt to use...? (currently the peircing one) and can a belt get % to cast chain lightning or something on striking?
5. what boots to use...? (currently gore riders)

i know it's horrible in hell... but when i play nightmare cows i enjoy it greatly. imma try and take her through hell.

current skills:
max strafe
max multishot (should have stopped at 10 or 15)
max valkrie
lvl 5 peirce (base lvl of peirce)
lvl 10 penetrate (going to max)

i found out that multi-shot doesn't activate the chance to cast nearly as much as strafe does...

Merc:
act 1 merc the lady gave me. using:
shaftstop, gaze (near perfect), edge blade bow (damage sucks, but thorn aura neat

What to equip merc with... i was thinking another delerium helm, and dragon as well, but with the vigor aura RW bow... that or i'll switch to a nightmare act 2 offencive merc... wearing dragon armour, delerium helm, and an insight collosus voulge... and worry about my mana from the insight. i'd rather stick with my act 1 merc for kicks, be different... and i'm not going act 3 or 5...

I have a ton of fun right now... a little costly for a semi-useless build at my current damage... but fun.

Am I crazy???

Multishot is pointless for chance to cast effects, only the two middle arrows have a chance to trigger.

Most elemental chance to cast effects on items are a joke beyond early nightmare so i don't bother with them.

nah looks like a lot of fun, i would certainly do it. just stay behind the valk and keep a few defrost pots.

for boots i would recommend silkweaves as mana/death will keep you full. gorefoots has mana leech. otherwise, there's nothing really to recommend here that will keep the theme.

imho, regarding skills, i would have gone with pierce instead of penetrate. that way you could just use normal attack and not care about mana at all, and that could free up the belt slot for wilhelm's pride with dual leech or nos coil with mana leech. several belts also have cannot be frozen.

re: bow: yep i like goldstrike.

i'm pretty sure you won't get that far in hell, but it will be a lot of fun. imho, just stay in nm and fool around. :)

[edit] oh i just remembered, lvl 20 valk can do hell by herself, so it may be slow going but you can do it. :)

until i get dragon/goldstrike, i'm stuck with what i got... i currently have about 70% pierce right now from skills and such.

i need penetrate so i can actually HIT things to have spells go off. peirce i'm doing after penetrate.

i need to use strafe... mainly because it fires much faster than regular attacks which make nightmare cows extremely fun. all i know, when i join public nightmare cow games, everyone laughs and has fun... however i trend to lag people who are on slow modem... too many things being trasmitted to them, :p

i like my gore riders because it actually lets me kill things with open wounds, crushing blow, and deadly strike... for the belt ideas, i'll look into those...

i just now need to get this character to lvl 85 or so... to get penetrate/peirce higher

well... itd bow might be a little hard to find that i'd like... but itd doesn't work on bosses or unique monsters... i'd like to have at least a 40% chance to hit hell baal -_-

how does strafe work with "chance to cast on hit"? Does every shot get a chance to trigger?
yes, every shot has a chance to cast on striking with strafe. with delirium and a big cow mob... with peirce... let's just say i cast a confuses on average of once every .2 seconds with a big mob... on a mob of cows and strafe... every shot freaking looks like i cast something, which is pretty cool, ^_^

This is a build that has been discussed many times here. It's fantastic fun to play. I believ it is called a "Proc-zon." As all CTC effects are referred to as "procing" on the Areat Summit. I made one of these a few weeks ago, and she is great for fighting boredom. She'll also slow a computer down more than a Lag-romancer.

My Setup:
Brand Great Bow (100% CTC lvl 20 Bone Spear, ITD, Great bow= very fast strafe.)
Marrowalks (To synergize the Bone Spears.)
Howltusk (Upp'd with a 15ias jewel. 25% Monster Flee. This is the same as 25% CTC terror. Also has knockback for even more crowd control.)
Dragon Archon (Hydras)
Laying of Hands. (CTC Holy Bolt, Ias)
Carrion Wind (Twisters, stuns them IF they get close to me through all the hit recovery from fast strafe and hydras/knockback/terror/Holy bolt.)
RF (This ring goes on exery build, almost.)
Highlord's Wrath (Preference)
Nos Coil Belt (Slows Target)
Cold dmg Charms (More slow-down.)

It's a very fun build to play. I let a strafe volley loose and it looks like fireworks.

Her resists suck, but I use Valk and decoy a lot and I proceed carefully. Melle-ers usually can't get within 10 yards of me. The only real danger is ranged elemental attackers, and, like I said, if you're careful these are no problem. I am thinking of switching out the Brand for an upped Riphook for more slow. I could socket a Sur in there then I can chill/blind/stun/flee/knockback the whole audience.

Another Fantastic option here is the Silence Runeword in a bow. By the time you can equip it you have 100% chance to blind anything that can actually be blinded, not to mention all the other tasty mods on the weapon.

That's my $.02, I'd recommend this char to anyone. It can be done cheaply or rich-ly and it's tons of fun.

(For those on the cheap, switch out the Dragon for a Rattlecage, and the Brand (Ditch the Marrows too, get War Travs or Gores) for a Riphook and watch every pack you encounter run away screaming...

slowly.)

yes, but the point is, that somehting crappy will happen to them. You may actually want to back off on the monster flee if you go with a silence bow. Since you'll be blinding anything you hit that can actually be cursed. You don't want flee to over-ride blind, which is a better curse in my opinion.

1. It's strange then, my friend's strafeazon uses an Atma's amulet (5% chance to cast amplify damage on strike), but it doesn't seem to trigger very often from strafe.

2. Would marrowalk really synergize a CTC bonespear??
