Aldur Druid?

Hi all,

thanks to usamah's giveaway, I now have a complete Aldur's Set, and am wondering what kind of druid it would go best on... Fire, Wind, Fur...?

There was a discussion about this a few days ago and the general feeling is that this set is worthless :(
A combination of easy to find uniques is far better than this set.
Blizzard tried to make it viable, but sadly, no dice.

If I get around to making mine, it's going to be a fire claw druid. It's the easiest way to get the set to work. And a glowing bear is cool. :)

True, it wouldnt even be that good without the weapon ruining your fun even further. But sets.. ah, the sheer fun of whooping through the game wearing an LoD set  Go for it!

I think someone also completed the game with a Rabies druid wearing the set. Basically the damage on the weapon is too low, so try to find an attack that doesn't rely on your weapon damage.

Is it worth going down the elementalist route? See I'm thinking going with fire spells and summons...

It doesn't have FCR, so wind spells are not going to be that effective.

The weapon does have atrocious damage so I don't really want to be hitting things with it if at all possible...

Are summons at all useful in 1.10? Or should I just go pure fire? Or pure summons? I am GOING to make this set work... call it an IUV!

AE got guardian with a Fire/Summon Druid and that was untwinked, so if he can do it anyone can ;)
He wrote a guide for it too, IIRC. It'll be around somewhere if he did write it.

:D

I posted this at another forum, but here is the write-up of my Patriarched Aldurs Set/Rabies/Summoning Druid

Well my Aldurs Set - Rabies - Summoning Druid, AldurAndFriends, made Patriarch at level 81 tonite. I made this character mostly because people criticize the Aldurs Set. So it started off as a character trying to prove that making a Druid around the Aldurs set could be done. While I was at it, I figured I might as well couple it with a Druid skill that often times gets overlooked, Rabies. In any case here he is:

This build really was not hard at all. Amazingly, I only died once throughout the game. The fourth wave of Baals Minions, venom lords, quickly surrounded me and inferno... well... you get the point. It was smooth sailing until Act 5. The random monsters means I got some nasty spawns, but most poison immunes are easy. My merc and Bear are amazing. The only ones I skipped were Poison/Physical Immune Ghosts. They just weren't fun. So I ran by em. Anyway here's the stats.

All are with gear on:

STR 186
DEX 197
VIT 318
NRG 65

I started off by putting 1 point into WW and lycanthropy. I thought I was going to have to waste more points there, but it turns out it wasnt necessary. 1 into Feral Rage, and of course maxed out Rabies. In the summoning tree, I chose to use a carrion wind for the bugged synergy instead of maxing the poison vine. I started off with 1 in oak sage, and by hell i decided to use HoW instead. I maxed, in this order, Dire Wolves, Bear, HoW, and have around 5 into Spirit Wolves. The Bear is amazing, along with my merc they can take down nearly anything. Anywho, on to my gear.

He's got max block, 2k life, two great tanks, and blinding ravens! It is not a hard build by any means, and really doesnt require any real expensive gear. If you can find a better build for this set, let me know, other than a fire claws build. Honestly, I didn't take too much of the heat, but a fire claws druid may get swarmed easier. It especially sucks because it seems you are constantly under amp damage in hell. In conclusion, it can be done, its not too hard, and it is actually a fun build.
It's not much, but if you want more info ill be glad to help.

Edit: I plan to do this build in Hardcore in the distant future.
