    Alcohol policy on forums

I was wondering what were the thoughts on "drinking and posting"?

I mean whats your opinion on posting while under the influence of any toxins (alcohol, drugs)

My opinion is it wouldn't be okay to post when you are wasted, but not to police people to excess, meaning if you just had one beer, whats stopping you?

I also look down on drunken threads. I mean it might be all fine and dandy for over-age people to post away while heavily toxicated, and sober over-age people to add to that but, younger members might get a skeved picture of certain things...

    A penny for your thoughts.

Yes, Elly's drunken post was one of the best things I've ever seen in the forums.
    :surprise:

The only rule for drunken posting is 'Don't be a dumbass'.

Glad I could make a difference in your day :D
Or was it because of the reminder that some of the posts at OTF might not have been considered in their fullest extent. For that I blame spam.

Too bad you didn't even contribute to the thread in giving your opinion on what you think of it. I would have liked to have differing opinions(and yours seems to differ from mine).

Thank you for reminding me, any hatemail will be best sent to my PM box.(if the box is full, I'm swamped and will be on it as soon as I humanly can)

I don´t see anything wrong with posting while you´re bombed out of your head. As long as you don´t spam pointless crap about how wasted you are of course... that kind of stuff got old long ago.

Are you saying you would prefer if I wasn´t allowed to post when out of it? It´s not like drinking and driving you know.
It´s possible to post coherently even when you´re really, really drunk. I bet most people can´t even tell when I post drunk. How would this rule be enforced?

pfft we should have an overage forum, the amount of kids makes it boring with limited posting

over 18s OTF would be nice then we could discuss more than just favourite meals and computer specs/games etc

How are you going to prove who's over 18 or not? I'm not giving out my credit card # to get into a forum and quite a few over 18s here don't have one.

Some people post like they're sober when they're drunk.

Some people post like they're drunk when they're sober.

I would get rid of the last category first.

I agree with the first part partly. :) The problem would arise next morning(or evening if you had "too good time") when people would go "I was wasted last night so don't take any of my posts seriosly or anything". Can you "undo" memories? And some aren't as good at deciphering wheter the said poster is under the influence or not and they might get funny ideas about that person.

No I'm not saying that anybody isn't allowed to post anything except what their fingers(or other body parts) happen to type, but there are mod's whose responsibility it is to enforce some common sense rules among other things. It doesn't give them the power to "sencor" but it gives them power to lock/delete threads that don't fit into their rules. So if somebody were to make a drunk thread/comment (see your posts first part) mods have the power to stop them influencing any young minds. I seek some answers as to what you members/pals think is out of line.

I think we have some support that "Im so drunk right now aöfjdaödgj" type of posts are not very welcome here on the OTF.

    Open for more input.

I find some of them quite funny. You always have the option not to read them.

Oh isn't it Dross? One could easily steer the thread so far off course they run over a little girl riding her bike on the sidewalk. Then who's to blame? You may feel ok with taking a risk like that, but I, for one, do not!

Drunk posting is only fun when you call people out and insult them. You can't really do that on this forum though, so I don't find it all that fun here. Elsewhere though...ooo boy.

As someone who falls into your latter category from time to time, I must ask why you hate me so. :)

Forums are designed specifically for drunk/stoned posting. Let's face it, there's a reason you can edit it 1000 times before posting and then 1000 more after posting. And those smileys...

I think the real question here is whether or not we should continue to allow sober posting.
