Alamaba shooting spree kills 12

The gunman who went on a bloody rampage in rural Alabama that left 12 dead was keeping a list of those "who done him wrong," police said Wednesday.

Michael McLendon, 28, who killed 11 people before taking his own life, had a target list that detectives found in his house in Kinston, Ala., according to Coffee County District Attorney Gary McAliley.

Most of those mentioned were corporations, not people....

When all the guns are banned, we'll be hearing about stabbing sprees. Then we'll ban all knives. (Well, only "assault" knives that have some arbitrary distinction.)

I'm almost surprised we still blame drunk drivers and not the vehicles themselves.

One detail that seems different about this one tho -- this is the first spree killing I can think of where the killer legally owned the gun and actually hunted before the incident. Is this accurate?

Only to you could "assault weapons" be arbitrary. Why not just come out and say that you in fact never read the law itself more than the title on the news. It has very clear definitions.

Except you won't get even close to as many people with a knife. I'd be surprised if you got 3 or even 2 people on a stabbing spree unless you killed them solid snake style and hid the bodies. Otherwise people are just going to run away from you.

They where 6 year old kids! that's why. I could walk into a school full of 6 year olds and kill more than 7 people with my bare hands. I'd take one in each hand and snap their necks like chickens and in the meantime step on a few that try to run past me. I'd have that record knocked out in a flash. Purely for scientific purposes of course.

Just because there's a definition doesn't make it any less arbitrary.

I meant arbitrary like anything over 6 inches is illegal, but under 6 inches is ok. As though a 5.5 inch blade is less lethal.

Also, I was pretty sure I didn't say anything about someone from Japan killing kids, so I followed the link after my name, and sure enough there's nothing about a killing spree in the quote you linked.

You have a problem grasping the concept of magnitude.

Guns are more lethal than knives, guns that shoot faster are more lethal than guns that shoot slower. Just because someone can kill a person with a knife does not make knives equally dangerous to firearms. The limit of knife length is because they had to set it somewhere. If they set a limit that you can't drive faster than 30 km/h near school zones then you could ask "but is 30 km/h that much more dangerous than 30.001 km/h. No it's not but that's where they put the limit as opposed to 50 km/h.

I simply saved you the time of bringing up an arbitrary knife killing spree example to convince yourself that knives are just as dangerous as guns. You know, save us 2 pages of you going through garbads footsteps of pointing out how jack the ripper killed tons of people with a knife hence knife = guns.

Meanwhile lAmebAdger, if you want to attach yourself to a bigger animals belly to protect you from from predators then Tanooki is not the best subject because he topples over as soon as you get to a thread about homosexuality, abortion or whether dinosaurs existed or if god just planted the bones to confuse scientists.

Comeback? You claimed we held different opinions when it comes to dinosaurs, and since I believe they existed, that suggests you don't.

Unless you're just making up random stuff that you think I believe... but surely you wouldn't do that.

I think he means the definitions are arbitrary, and he's pretty much right.

(Humorously enough, considering all this talk of knives, having a bayonet mount was one of the possible criteria for any given weapon being considered an "Assault Weapon". Damn those bayonet killing sprees! *shakes fist*)

I still have to live with that, sort of. But thanks to the ingenuity of gun owners and the stupidity of gun control advocates, there are legal ways around assault weapons bans (for now, at least).

In my country most people cannot have guns and the latest killingspree overhere was the Kim D.G. killingspree in a babycare daycenter with a kitchenknife.
