Rock/Punk/Alternative?

I find they're somewhat unique, with the vocals being pretty damned nice. You could check out songs like...

Girls Not Grey
Dancing Through Sunday
Silver and Cold
The Leaving Song (pt.II)

Just to see the different types of songs they can pull out.

Wtf? cd.... buy? You act like they come in a store.

edit: yeah a heavy metal fan might not like them but a mudvayne fan might.

If you've got the extra cash for a CD, sure you can't really go wrong. If you don't have much money, I'd put the money in the bank!

Lateralus is one of the best cd's ever... itll probably make you disown the other stuff though.

AFI's Sing the Sorrow was probably the best CD I bought in 2003. I was just listening to it about 5 minutes ago, strangely enough. Sometimes the mood just strikes ya and you have to pop it in. I also own Black Sails in the Sunset, and The Art of Drowning. Both very solid CD's.

I'd say they are kind of a punk/goth rock/alternative. The farther back in time you go, the faster their CD's seem to get.

They are Punk-Pop/Emo. if you like other punk-pop/emo then you should get their cd.

Buy a Fear Factory cd :D or Mortition

Just a word of advice.

When purchasing any piece of music, I first consider this: "What is the best band in the world?"

When I inevitably come to the conclusion, Radiohead, I either buy a Radiohead CD, or, considering I have them all, I get something else good.

I look at my list of good. That doesn't include AFI. So I don't buy AFI.

Hope that helped.

I love AFI. As someone said before, the vocals are incredible, and the semi- old stuff is great. Sing the Sorrow, Art of Drowning, or Black Sails, unless you like punkish stuff, in which case get an old cd. Also,Girls Not Grey
Dancing Through Sunday
Silver and Cold
The Leaving Song (pt.II)
are all on Sing the Sorrow, and I like them all. Dancing Through Sunday is my favorite, though.

muahahaha just saw this thread.

I'd pass if I were you ... as far as vocals... that guy's voice annoys the hell outta me.

They seem like tools to me.

I'd suggest either getting Art of drowning(my most favorite cd of all time), black sails on the sunset, which has one of the greatest songs ever, god called in sick today(probably their most famous too) or Shut your mouth and open your eyes. shut your mouth is really fast true punk and as you go farther up their cd list they tend to not be as fast(but its still punk). I'd suggest getting art of drowning.
