Advice on best equipment for a Might Merc.

Hello all,

This is my first time ever post here and i would like to know what the best Equipment is for my Merc. I am a summoner.

Please tell me whats the best and if you want to explain me why.

Regards,

If that's a Necro-Summoner, I'm shooting for

- Ariocs Needle with +4 skills (already have that :))
- Arkaine's Valor with +2 skills
- Helmet? Not sure yet... +2 skills would be nice, but so is lifeleech. Currently using Crown of Thieves.

Why? Killing power is only secondary with all the skeletons in your army, but the +skills improves the aura (EDIT-3: +10%ed per aura level) which in turn helps the skeleton warriors. Doesn't do anything for the mages, but there isn't much you can do for them anyway.

A weapon with crushing blow, like Steel Pillar, is on my shopping list, to stash away for diablo clone. Currently I use revives for him.

EDIT: As always "ethreal" versions are good, but +skills is better --- that is, a normal +4 ariocs is better than a +2 ethreal.

EDIT-2: This is my Skelemancer. The merc-gear I'm shooting for is for him.

Agree with +4 weapon and +2 armor, but i have been trying around a little, and realised that a +2 helm isnt bad at all (if its the right one)
My vote goes for the 'Delirium' runeword (gives loads of def, +2, and best of all: chance to cast confuse!!)
with the chance to cast confuse (i think its 13% or something iirc) the enemies will mostly start hitting each other and the merc will be able to keep hitting them, triggering the confuse all the time. As a result, my merc doesnt take more than a couple of hits at most, before the monsters focus on each other. In addition to that, you will have xx skellies too, so the relative chance the merc will get hit is rather low. And you will still get better aura from him because of the +2 skills!! Also, the merc will have quite good life regen, so he is back on full life pretty fast.

As a bonus, the confuse-radius is quite big, so it will also affect nearby ranged units, preventing them from shooting past the skellies hitting you.

Summary: Delirium makes a good work keeping merc alive, and still adds the +2 skills. Though its a little more expensive than crown of thieves etc, but still worth it imo.

Hope you think this idea isnt too bad. Works for me

This confuses me. You equip the helm to boost the Might aura, thus increasing the killing capability of your Skellies. Then you handicap your Skellies by having the Amp continuously overridden by Confuse. Why not replace the +2 helm with something with good leech and just let your Skellies profit from Amp, since Amp gives a bigger increase in damage than the +2 skills?

All depends on what type you use. If you rely on mages as well, you might want confuse on them too, not just amp. besides, CE will clean quite well even without amp

Ariocs is pretty cheap, i dont know what realm or l/nl you play, but a mid rune should do the work imo. (at least from what i've seen)
Some ppl dont even pick them up. i got a free +3 eth one once

Crushing blow is always great to have, especially vs. bosses. My merc uses Guilliames face, A Duress armor, and a Hone Sundan (eth upgraded is optimal, I have one it kicks a whole lotta arse).

He has the max of 95% crushing blow, and with 3 attacks a jab you'll see even your enemies with the highest life totals drop dramatically quick.
