Advice for my first HardCore account!

So i have never played HC before, and I plan on doing it the right way. But alot of people have mixed feelings on which realm is best to play HC on.

1) What realm is the most "popular" for HC D2 EXP?

2) What realm is the most "fun" for HC D2 EXP?

3) What realm is the most "easy" for HC D2 EXP?

4) If I live in USA / CA could I have any noticeable lag issues (compared to local) connecting to Europe or Asia or East US?

I will setup a proper poll, for what realm people play (have played) HC in, and which one they would prefer to play in. But for now, the poll question is:

What realm would you prefer to play HC assuming its your first HC account?

Bnet is a pain with any amount of salt you wanna take it. I heard HC is a lot better on bots and stuff though, mainly why I will be rolling HC on reset like you.

I suggest europe as it has pretty good economy - prices tend to go higher. That might be good or not for you on HC.

edit: if you wanna know about lag, just make a char on the realm you wanna play on and see for yourself. With todays ISPs though I don't think you'll have any problems.

Have you ever played HC or europe?

I did try it real quick with pvm... but pvp would be hard to test

My advice is you learn a ton of new vulgarities for when you get disconnected and die.

been playing HC since 2005. I voted East as that used to be the most populated for trading. not sure now, not much traffic in the HC trading forums. But that could also be the ladder age.

I'm tempted to give Eu a try myself, but in the past it's always been East for me. usually plenty of games going on, and the busiest for trades.

No matter what you do, make sure you read the HC survival guide (FAQ) in the stickies, and if your running Eu, make sure you sign up on the gauss thread. locked channel for quality folks (those who like to play nice). East server version is Banana, though it is no longer a locked channel. both threads are in the HC forum.

You will die. Just take everyone's word for it. be it lag, or a group of uniques complete with monsterpacks and auras (fana + might + cursed + extra fast + extra strong anyone?), or be it because your parents/siblings/pet bunny suddenly distract you.


Really, thats my advice: expect to die. If you play hardcore with the idea "I will not ever die with my perfect system", I can assure you it will shorten your own lifespan by ten years when you do die ingame.
