I see that you are new to these forums. For future reference, it might be handy to know that asking where to download 3d party programs is forbidden here. I hope you understand that this kind of thing is not legit according to Blizzard's standards, and therefore frowned upon on these forums. Thank you.

How do you switch channels?
Uh.... Click the Channel button.

Then select one of the few channels that have people in them from the list of "official" channels, or create/join one by entering it in the channel name field.

It seems you never took the time to read the rules to this forum.

Thus far you seem to have broken a rule in almost all the threads you started or participated in. This is, of course, none of my business. I just though you aught to know that, should you continue the way you've been going, you'll be well on your way to getting some heavy flak from other forum members and admins.

Would you be able to tell me where I could download ATMA?, you know the 3rd party program that is not forbidden here, in fact it's even encouraged!

It's such a double standard, Lets say a new person joins up to the forum, reads the rules about this forums views on 3rd party programs etc. Then sees all the posts here with links to ATMA, people talking about it, praising it etc. How the hell are they supposed to know what 3rd party programs they're allowd to ask questions about here and what ones they're not?

How do we even know that this 'admin module' is not only for lan/multiplayer games etc. If it was and only worked on thoes types of games would it still be an "Illegal 3rd party program" or would it be a great tool for administration of your multiplayer lan games, like ATMA is for muleing in single player.

All I'm saying is the guy diden't even say anything about battle.net in his post, he just said he was in a game, it could have been a public multiplayer/lan game that was posted in the single player forum, but oh no, right away he gets jumped on and given the double standard 3rd party speech:

"you're not allowd to talk about 3rd party programs in these forums, unless they're third party programs that we deem acceptable, but you won't know which ones they are unless you ask and if you ask and the one you ask about is not one we deem acceptable then we'll be all over you like white on rice."

I guess a good rule of thumb would be for newcomers to start all questions about ANY 3rd party programs with this tag.

<FOR SINGLE PLAYER USE ONLY>
How do I turn on inventory socketing protection in Maphack?
</FOR SINGLE PLAYER USE ONLY>

Good points, squigipapa, but you don't have to make it all too complicated. The rule of thumb is pretty easy. If it is for Single Player (and maybe Open Bnet) then people can do with their game whatever they want.

For instance, ATMA is okay, Maphack is not. Sure, you can use Maphack on Single Player only, but that doesn't make it okay to discuss it in these forums, because of the ability to use it on closed Battlenet. See where I am getting at? People can say that they are only going to use it on Single Player, but there is no way in hell you can check that. So that doesn't make it right to put up a link to the download location. ATMA on the other hand is purely for Single Player - you can't even use it on closed Battlenet, so therefore it is okay.

In short, a program you can use on closed Battlenet is not to be discussed in these forums. And that is all, so I fail to understand what is so difficult about it. Besides, I was very gentle in explaining it to him, no? ;)

Ok, Snowieken, that's a good point, and I totally agree with you. That makes complete sense to me. The thing to remember is not all new comers can make that distenction so easily. I mean someone who is totally new to the game probably woulden't have any idea that ATMA can't be used on battle.net. They may not understand that when you play single player or open battle.net the character files are saved locally and when you play on closed battle.net that they are saved on the server.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that ignorance is an excuse, perhaps maybe something useful for newcomers, would be a list of acceptable 3rd party apps in the FAQ or something, like
Q:
"What 3rd party apps is it acceptable to ask questions about on the diabloii.net froums?"

A:
ATMA etc. etc. (I don't even actually know if there are any others.)

And no, I don't think you were too hard on him at all, and you did explain it gently :)
but you just kind of made a blanket statement saying "asking where to download 3d party programs is forbidden here" when in fact, asking about 3rd party programs that can only be used in single player is perfectly alright.

Now, all that being said, I have no doubt that the original poster was talking about battle.net, and he was refering to a hack, and had no right asking about it here, but or course this is all just personal oppinion and I'm not agreeing with the original post just playing devils advocate .. :)
