    Act 2 Merc equipment

I have an act 2 holy freeze merc and hes using normal Reapers toll, crown of theives and grizwalds heart armor.

My question is... what is the BEST possible act 2 merc setup? What are some variations on that for the 'less blessed people' here.

Also, what is the best thing to put into my grizwalds armor for my merc? I need him to be able to survive the punishment i let him take in hell more than +mf stuff. Thanks for your input =D

It really depends on what runs you make, but here's my 2c

    - Merc; Might merc
    - Armour; Duriels Shell (possibly upgraded) for the resistance and Cannot be Frozen
    - Helm; Something with Life Leech, Gaze being the top of the line
    - Weapon; Doom Runeword in Ethereal Cryptic Axe (godly damage and HF aura)

Thats what my blizzard sorc's a2 might merc uses. At lvl90 he is max res and max dmg red. I BO him w/ CTA and he has 3.6k life or so. He helps with hell pindle, baal runs.

On Ladder you can upgrade weapons and armors from normal->exceptional and exceptional->elite version of that weapon/armor.
This results in higher damage or higher defense depending on upgrading weapon or armor 8)

    Nice weapons for Act2 Mercs:
    Reapers Toll
    Bonehew
    Tombreaver
    Various Runewords for Polearms

    Armor/Helmet:
    Duriells Shell
    Shaftstop
    Vampire Gaze
    Rockstopper
    Steelskull

If you can get etheral versions of weapons and armor, even better! since nothing needs to be repaired on a merc they are perfect for even more damage and defense. Though remember that you wont get the extra etheral bonus on armor when you upgrade etheral versions from exceptional->elite.

This is what I use for my HF mercenary:

-Perfect Ethereal 1.09 Vampire Gaze with a CHAM rune for "Cannot be Frozen"
-Near perfect (2% ed off) Ethereal BoneHew with 2 AMN runes
-Ethereal Superior Dusk Shroud Chains of Honor.

He's level 91 right now, doing tons of damage to monsters and even more to Undead and Demons (because of Chains of Honor).
My sorc (CL/Orb) also has a perfect (The +BO is perfect) Call to Arms Runeword, so my merc gets about 4000 life, I believe, and tons of defense also.

When Ladder ends, I'll try trading for the unique (hopefully ethereal) Polearm with has "chance to cast decrepfy on attack". I think it's called Reaper's Toll.

    +190-240% Enhanced Damage (varies)
    Ignore Target's Defense
    Adds 4-44 Cold Damage
11-15% Life Stolen Per Hit (varies)
    33% Deadly Strike
33% Chance To Cast Level 1 Decrepify On Striking
    Requirements -25%

My merc is using reapers toll but for some reason my toll doesnt have deadly strike... weird .. it must be from a differant version number.
