    Absolute Noob Needs Help

Hmmm, I just picked up Diablo again t'other day and I have a question. After filling a socket with a gem is there any way to UNsocket it? Like if one finds a better gem, can you substitute it?

You need the cube + a hel rune + a single scroll of town portal

Put the hel rune and the scroll into the cube and press transmute

Just a warning when you do this you will lose what ever was in the socket

1 Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal + Any Socketed Item = Remove items from sockets
Warning: This will destroy any gems, runes, or jewels you have socketed. This is useful if you are not happy with the gems you have socketed and you want to socket the item in another way.

    Information from:

But personnal advice I would tell you it may not be worth it I mean a Hel rune is worth alot more then what you might be unsocketing.

Edit: Woops didin't see you reply there Aman.

Thanks guys, I can't believe I'm so inept at this game. I have gotten as far as the lower Monastery Jail levels but am not looking forward to Andarial at all.

Seriously, enjoy the ineptness! After one plays for years all the little things and seemingly big challenges at the time are often longed for. I wish there was a memory button to be able to forget all knowledge of the game and be able to start from scratch each time.
