A very noobish runeword question.

Ok so I'm not exactly new to Diablo but I will ask this question here because I'm sure others are in a similar situation as me.

To cut a long story short I want to craft my Assassin a Rhyme runeword. It might not be ideal but i have the runes needed for it lying around so I might as well seeing as its cheap.

Problem is i have no idea how to make runewords. Ive done a few internet searched but nothing came up that said how to actually go about doing it.

I know i need a 2 socket grey shield with high base block chance. Do i just insert the runes into it. Ie insert the Shael rune forst then the Eth rune or do i need to do it in the cube?

Can i take a high base block shield then take it to the NPC in Act 5 normal and Nighmare and get him to add sockets? Do they stack? I guess not.

I know its terribly noobish but having never had the materials to craft runewords before its all a bit new and i dont want to screw it up and lose my runes >.<

Anyway thanks for any answers.

Re: A very noobish runeword question.

1. Put the 2 socket shield in your inventory/stash (make sure it's grey and not magic)
2. Put the shael rune into the shield
3. Put the eth rune into the shield
4. You got yourself a Rhyme shield

Once an item has sockets, you can't add anymore.

Re: A very noobish runeword question.

You are right.
you need GREY 2socket shield and put shael, then eth in it.
Good shields are those with high block, light type (so you don't move slower) and with low STR requirements. Probably the best candidate is a troll nest, but it can be found only in hell. Shael and Eth are not too rare so you don't have to find the best grey shield ever....

Also it's not good to waste Larzuk quest reward on an average piece of equipment like normal shield. You should find one sooner or later and you can also try to create sockets in normal white shield via cube recipe...

It isn't embarrassing m8, Its only easy if you know the answer.

It would be more embarassing to make the mistake for the sake of not asking the question.
