A very good Pub PK'er?

A very good Pub PK'er?

I started this ladder a few weeks ago but due to some very nice people I've met, my paladin is already in enigma/hoz/hoto etc. I even farmed Meph/Andy and WSK + Baal for like almost a week straight and got some nice amount of HRs from trading. I know one piece of good equipment can go for like 10+ HR and skillers/charms aren't exactly cheap either.

My goal is to basically stop MF'ing all together once I completely deck out a godly pvp character. I know not one character can own every single build out there, but I just wanted to know what in general is Godly with good equipments. I'm not too bad @ pvp either, it is just that I stopped PVP'ing back in 1.09 and I came back to D2 not too long ago so I'm not sure what the "good" pub builds are.

I'm thinking about a wind druid but it might get abs'd too easily in pubs. I'm not worried too much though, as it's only going to be for fun PvP'ing anyways (I don't mind dying lol). Another part of me wants a bone necro as I've always liked boners (lol). Or even maybe charger/smiter or whatever good pub pally builds are..

Could someone point me in the right direction? I basically want to MF madly and trade madly to get the best of the best items for one character and just get that one to 99 and PK and stuff.

Thanks!

One build can pwn all other if played right but all builds have weaknesses. Bone necro is one of the top best builds. Wind druids may have problems with bvc.

Hammerdin can be good in a pub game. May take a awhile to learn how to control a hammerdin.

BvC can take on all classes but even it can die easily.

Bone Nec - Pretty good pvp, if played right has good % wins vs. every class

Hammerdin - Easy to use, hard to master. Probably the best for pubs because you can kill 7 ppl without ever getting hit

Vindicator/Templar - Great 1v1 Build with lots of versatility. No glaring character weakness here, can match up vs. almost any character. Horrible vs. multiple opponents, unless they're bad...

200fcr ES Light Sorc - Easiest to use. Extremely fast. Extremely durable + high damage. You run into the problem of absorb/max res items. If nobody is overstacking you, this can probably clear pubs the fastest

I didn't mention BvC because they get owned by BvB/certain other melee classes or WW sin because the damage is honestly too low for a pub smasher build.

BoneNec is the most fun IMO.

Unsorbable dmg is very gg.

WW/Trapper and BvC are other builds that can dominate pub games.

If your into 1v7 then Hdin is your build.

Another vote for bone necro.

Be sure to check blizzard's page about what's new in .11, a LOT has changed since 09 (ie lifeleech, dr% now capped at 50%, etc)

Tornado, which is the main source of windy's attack, deals physical damage. So all you can do is use dr items (cappped at 50%).

I was able to find many guides on Bone Necro and Hammerdin as recommended in above posts (thanks everyone!) but I had hard time finding a up-to-date guide on Wind Druid. I found this guide http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=238126 but it is from 2004.

Could anyone help me find some guides on wind druids so I dont have to ask 50 questions in the forum? =P thanks

200fcr ES Light Sorc - Easiest to use
'

Just a quick sidenote there: such a light sorc will be wasting 82fcr because the last breakpoint for lightning is 118. So unless you're spamming charged bolt, 200fcr is a waste just to be able to tele 1 frame faster.

You've already ƒenris' guide. . .there's not much missing there, save maybe using nine elemental gc's and a torch instead of ten. Other than that try to build around the breakpoints listed therein. If you have any specific questions, posting here or the druid forum wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I agree, windy is a cookie-cutter char and not much has changed since the guide was written. If you follow the discussion under the guide most of your concerns should be addressed

And if not feel free to ask here or in the druid section as stated by Queen Mebd. IIRC there were plenty of windy threads not so long ago in the druid forum.

Best pub dueler is most likely a Hammerdin. A good one is expensive as hell charm-wise though. They rival BvCs in that regard, although they are quite superior to the BvC in... just about everything. Hdins have high damage that can't be resisted, they are extremely durable, and can stack/absorb without sacrificing much of anything in damage or mobility. Plus since their attacks stay up for a good deal of time, you can kill people you aren't even close to.

Bone Necros are a close second, in that they can just scurry around the moor and never get hit. Plus Necros have curses, as well as Bone Prison and Bone Wall, all incredible moves. The only reason they aren't superior to Hammerdins is because they don't have the durability Hammerdins do. If you have a team member though, the bone nec is usually better than the Hdin because of the curses.

In third is probably a tie. BvC and Windy are both good classes, but have their faults. A BvC has trouble with several good opponents at once, which WILL happen in pub games, and a Windy gets smacked around by a couple classes (Assassins and BvCs). Still, BvCs have very good matchups against many classes, and Wind Druids have the best GM minion stack and a strong stunning attack. If you go with either of these you'll do well, but keep in mind their shortcomings.

Some people think a ww/trapper can do it, but since minimal absorb takes out half the arsenal of this character, I disagree. If a ww/trap gets ganged up on when the opponents are absorbing, the assassin has nothing in the arsenal to handle it. At best, they can just run around for 10 minutes mind blasting and doing drive by style whirlwinds so open wounds can bleed the opponent out. But chances are your opponents wont let that happen.

That's my view. :\
