A sad, sad story

So I'm making a Barbarian... currently level 43, almost 44. A few levels ago, I found a set helmet called "Immortal King's Will Avenger Gaurd". Now, because this helmet had over 4 times as much defense as my current helmet, I totally freaked out. But then I saw it required a level of 47. I thought "No biggie, I'll put it in my stash for a while". So I put it in. Then I thought "Hhmm, I have some runes with me too, I'll put those in my stash also. Let's see... I want the runes to be where I put the helmet"

I click a rune, drag it over to the helmet, click it, and the rune disapears. The helmet was socketed! Dang! 2 sockets..

Now it regenerates 15% mana. I guess this could be useful since I never attack with anything except Concentrate (with war cries) and my mana is constantly being drained, but, I always have potions on hand and it's never a problem.

I could have put something more useful in those sockets. Is this a loss I should mourn? :(

Do not fret, for there is an unsocket recipe:
1 Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal + Any Socketed Item = Unsocket that item
Warning: This will destroy any gems, runes, or jewels you have socketed. This is useful if you are not happy with the gems you have socketed and you want to socket the item in another way.

Too late on the unsocket recipe saying!

So do not fret. It is quite a good helm. And hey, you can always leave that rune in there for now. Mana regen is useful ish with the barb. Tis better than a kick in the :teeth: teeth!

Don't worry about this. You can probably get an ik helm from some guy for free to replace that one. Anyways, it's not like that ik helm deserved a great rune or jewel, en eth rune will do fine there. So as you have it, the helm is still looking pretty good for a lvl 45 guy.

Alright thanks! This makes me happy... I guess before I waste a Hel Rune, I'll look into other gems/runes and see if I have anything in particular that will help me a lot.

There's so many items in the IK set.. and it's too bad I'll probably never find any of them lol

The IK set, excepting the armour, can be picked up for Perfect Gems, if you go to the trade forums on this very site. IK armour can be acquired for approx 120 Perfect Gems (Euro Realm Forum, Ladder). Realistically you would be looking at an UM/MAL rune for the armour. So dont fret. The set aint that unattainable.
