I made my attempt on Duriel today - Gerrard at that point was at level 24, having levelled twice in the fake tombs so as to have access to Zeal. For a weapon I had made a 'Steel' Claymore, and I'd shopped myself up a Wand with Weaken charges to help keep Duriel's damage sensible.

What happen:

Me: Hit Duriel. He loses a sliver.
Duriel: Hit me. I lose 1/3 of my life.
Me: Hit Duriel. He loses another sliver.
Duriel: Hit me. I lose another 1/3 of my life.
Me: Drink big pink potion. Hit Duriel. He loses a sliver.

*Repeat 8 times*

Me: Drink last big pink potion. Attempt to run away. Get hit while running...

For it to be more appropriate for the others to really understand what is "escaping death" is...
That wording was deliberate on my part. The thing is, there are other reasons to S&E outside of town, MF runs being a big one. (Thunderstorms being another. Stupid monsoon season. :rant: ) I think I can trust everyone's common sense here, and still allow them a little bit of freedom. It wouldn't want to disqualify someone who did a S&E after killing the countess because they forgot to TP to town first.

I dont know why I havent updated anything yet, but myfirstsorc is level 16 at the outer cloister and four quests done. Go me!

So quickie went out this weekend and got to level 18. Still haven't killed Andariel as I really want to be level 24, but the shadow warrior is going to help.

Well, Skunkblonde the bowzon got to level 23 last night, and put together the Horadric Staff. Now it's Palace time. Fun so far... best find up to this point has been Arctic Furs (very handy, untwinked).

1.11 And This Tournament

As this tournament is intended to be long-term, I realize that some people may not want to hold off on the upgrade. Since early indications show that this patch does have some significant impact on play (especially untwinked HC no vitality) here is what I am going to do. I am going to split this touney into two groups. 1.10 and 1.11. Please state which patch you are using in your next update. There will be two separate prize stashes for this tourney.

I am up for the challenge of 1.11. Who knows, maybe the new uniques/runewords could help my druid out......I would rather NOT run NM Andy/Meph forever for a ribcracker/athena's.......

I will not change my patch until I feel I'm finished with my char (or I die) so 1.10 for me.

Right now I'm running Bone Ash for angelic sickle and will move on to running radament for the ring and amu (for prebuffing ES and the life bonus). this will take at least 2-3 days so I will not move a lot in that time. Right now my mf is only 128 so I might go get the cube, but otherwise I will not update before the weekend. glacial spike+defiance merc+fire wall lvl 6 (leaf) means safety and speed when mfing on players 8.

I think that the FE bug is pretty significant for a base Vit character...

Just to clarify, characters started in 1.10 and converted to 1.11 will be in the 1.11 compitition. (Since I can't think of any advantage someone starting a character in 1.10 would have over someone who played 1.11 all the way through.

And for those who are curious, I will be keeping Jason in 1.10. I guess I want that one last run at the FE bug with a melee character. :D

It looks like the initial testing that people have done show its gone. (Keep in mind that the release notes were tailored to B.net, where the FE bug had already been fixed. That may be why it isn't mentioned.)

not by the sounds of it teh roy, the FE bug being taken out will probably help.

i'll be staying 1.10

Well, Quickie has been running the unique just outside Lut Gholein to try and get to level 24 to gain access to Lightning Sentry. Once level 24 is achieved, I will move through the rest of the act and try to take out Duriel.

As far as the patch goes. I am going to stick with 1.10 until a decision has been made on the survivor tourney. If that goes to 1.11 then I'll convert my characters.

No matter whether the FE bug was removed or not.....extra caution is still the name of the game in Hell and tanking an FE boss, with or without the bug, is not my idea of a living druid. I will still proceed with extra caution and NEVER tank an FE boss unless I absolutely must.......

D'OH! My stupid Hopeless sorc died! Turns out Hopeless was the right name for her ;) The stupid player (me) thought: "I'll surely kill that Extra Strong Phantom/Spectre/whatever Boss before he can kill me!". WHACK! one hit kill, bye bye Hopeless :(
No prize stash, since I hadn't found anything worth muling off.
I'm not going to restart: I've just lost my Level 32 werebear druid, not in any torunament, to a pack of venom lords in the Chaos Sanctuary (low fire resistance and foolishness).
I'll go back to SC for a while, maybe I'm just too stupid to play HC :mad:

Skunkblonde has reached level 24, and killed the Summoner. Still no decoy or valk, and I continue to use my trusty act 1 mercenary (though I still plan to switch to an act 3 merc when/if I get there). Hit points = less than 140 :D

Also, regarding the patch: I expect to switch to 1.11 tonight, so please include me on that side of the challenge.

My blue bulb was empty and I was dead =(. Energyshield isnt very hot when trying to tank a superunique lightning enchanted fellow while the same pellow is standing in 3 firewalls. At least not with 250 mana.
My stash containing a hawkmail, a bloodfist and some random low level uniques will be sent tomorrow, I play on a different comp.
I will probably play with another char, since I want to give the untwinked titan enchantress one last chance before changing to 1.11... If so I will update tomorrow.
