I know that everybody is excited about 1.11, but I decided to cool down a bit and play my druid. I gained an extra point by running to my 2nd Hell waypoint, the cold plains, and then tried to do the den. Without crushing blow from goblin toe, I couldn't get as far as I did. I got down to one monster left: a physical/cold immune cursed Corpsefire. Naturally, I shopped a weapon with CTC amp dmg, and after downing many super healers and 2 big purples, got it to work, and managed to take him down to 3/4 health! Wow! Furying with a weapon without any IAS on it is just too slow, apparently, and by the time I triggered my next amp, Mr Corpsefire decided he best be regen'ing his HP's before I give him a pounding. After the long minutes I spent killing zombies in that den, I couldn't take down that final monster...........
The lesson learned is that Hell is difficult and there is no way around that. I guess I'm back to running NM A5 for gambling gold and maybe some good drops. By the way, anyone have any idea when the first cruel of quickness could be shopped? Does the vendor's position in the game matter (basically, does it have to be later on in Hell), or does it depend on your level? Any input on how I could possibly get a nice fury weapon would be greatly appreciated.
@Nazdakka: as to tanking Duriel, I'm sure it could be done with your life. I tanked Duriel with my druid when he had 350 HP's. I had no castings of weaken because deshifting to cast was WAY too dangerous, and all that stood in Duriel's way was my meager 350 HP. You only have about half that, but.....your holy freeze could make up for that by slowing Duriel down around 50% (what is your exact %, by the way?), effectively making him hit you way less often, allowing you time to go to town, get healing, and buy more potions. Plus, the extra time that you have between getting hit means more time for your potions to work, which could partly, if not fully cancel out the issue of duriel beating you up faster than your potions heal you. Good luck and be safe.
