a poison necro in hell baal

im interested in making a poison necro. and i would like to know how they do in hell baal runs. and with all the synergies with the poison and i did plus 13 to all skills so all the poison skills were at level 33 and the poison explosion was doing like 41-51k damage. so how would it do in hell baal

Mod Edit: If you want to mention a calc try this one for general skills, or this one for minions specific info. Please do not provide links to sites that sell items.

Are we talking players 1 or multiplay? In P1 any necro decimates hell baal pretty much, CE is king and a CB merc thrashes baal with or without skeletons to help him. The poison necro got the added benefit of having a high level poison dagger to help out hitting on a CB switch (fleshripper + Guil's Face works very nice).

In multiplay you more or less switch to being a support char - controlling the game-pace with AI curses and while halting regen and eating the monsters life slowly but surely. With great gear you can kill decently fast again.

First of all, I'd try avoiding mentioning item selling sites, as it's against the forum rules and the mods don't like that. That skill calculator is on two different sites, one of the one you mentioned. To be honest, I always end up with the "bad" one as well when I'm googeling for the calculator, for some reason.

That being said, from what I've heard, poison Necromancers need pretty good gear to do well in Hell. Also, remember the poison immunes, so you'll also need to gear up your mercenary very well.

To sum up, you'll make it, but don't expect it to be a cakewalk.

The reference to the website in first thread may be moderated because that site sells items for cash.

Tips for poisonmancer to do well:

1. You max poison skills and synergies
2. Use Lower resists curse
3. Use 5/5 poison facets (as many as possible)
4. Use infinity on your merc

I've observed a poisonmancer who ran hell baal with me - he used fleshripper dagger to hit baal along with his revives. He was doing fairly well, but killing speed was a bit slower as compared to other chars and builds. You may want to socket it with a Jah rune for ignoring target defense, or a simple Eth rune if you're not that rich for reducing enemy defense per hit.

You should be rich to build a poisonner, because you need very good gear for you and your merc. I have one at level 84, and I don't have all my gear. He is very slow. Using lower resist and infinity on your merc is essential.

But I like it, fun to play, because it's different and not popular like hammerdin

just so you know: conviction aura does NOT reduce Poison resists.
Yep! Thanks for reminding.

Infinity polearm is to reduce the enemies defense so you find it easier to stab with a poison dagger, and your revives find it easier to hit enemies as well.

Poison explosion is useless. Nova is where it really is at. I've been playing a summon/poison hybrid (with full poison) and it's pretty fun (and quite powerful). Though I still need more skill charms to really complete him, but at least for now he can kill do hell Baal quite fast for low player counts. Baal himself falls relatively quickly to an onslaught of skeles/revives/merc/nova.

Thanks for the tips, I was sure this apply to poison resist also, because on the description of infinity, it's say

"Level 12 Conviction reduces enemy defense 83% and resistances 85% over 13.3 yards. Conviction can remove immunities."

My next goal for my poisoner was to build a infinity polearm for my merc. Now I have to look for something else.

Trangs, death web wand boost poison damage quiet a bit.

Don't know if you can break poison immunes even with lower resists.

There are PLENTY of poison immunes that can't be broken. Its a fun build (mine is lvl89) and great at clearing pits, but not a great Ball runner. Good gear is essential.

I personally dislike bramble. Enigma is more useful, especially when your other 20 extra points is in skeles or revives.

I'll throw in my few cents here:

In fact, if you read through the battle net site, there are not many unbreakable poison immune there. As long as the poison resistance is less than 110% (I’ll just assume that it is easy to have a lvl7 or above LR after gears), you will break it. With 3 pieces Trang set (preferred glove, belt and shield), you get +2 to curse (help the LR curse), +2 P&B (obviously), and most important, +25% poison damage and -25% poison resist. The only expensive part is the belt. However, I think it would be okay to use the armor (pgems in trade) in the beginning. Here is what I use before I get better gears and it is pretty good, actually.

Helm: +2 necro (or +3 P&B) circle (using Shako now)
Armor: any Vipermage (using Skullder for MF now, Nigma will be great for tele/MF)
Glove: Trang glove:
Belt: Trang belt
Shield: Trang shield with PDiamond (can be socketed with Pfacet once I can up my resist from other sources).
Boot: Aldur boot (nice FRW and fire resist, war traveler if you need MF or any will do).
Weapon: Blackbog’s dagger (nice +PN, and CHEAP, great before you get Death web => the ultimate weapon :p)
Ammy: +3 P&B with or without mods (can be gambled or trade with pgems).
Ring: Any will do (+resist, life, if you are rich, you can use Soj or Bk for skills).
Charms: Resistance, Life, Mana as your need. Any necro torch will do (pgems) for its cheap price. Gheed if you are into MF. Anni when you get rich (Um for low one in east ladder). P&B skillers are not necessary but you can add more once you are richer for more damage.

As you can see, you can have lots of +skills for cheap (pgems for most of them). As indicated above, he is famous for its effectiveness in Pits. However, with better gears (deathweb is the most important one), I can do chaos run easily. Even BigD died in few PN with LR on him.

I go the route without any summon as of now. I max all poison skills for sure. Then, I put many points in Dim Vision (lvl22 now with gears). 1 point to bone armor and many in bone walls now. With DV, normal monsters will stand there getting poisoned ? Most monsters will die with 1 or 2 nova even without LR. For tougher monsters (high life, or poison immune), LR is very useful.

Agree with above, I will choose nigma over bramble ?

Cheers!!

For baal runs, burning souls, the second baal minion boss, and the fourth wave all have unbreakable(?) poison resistances.

So you need something to kill them. Hopefully a merc/CE will be enough, hopefully you have revives and a CB iron golem.

Yeah..I agree, though. He is not the fastest baal runner for sure but he can almost run any place with reasonable speed :)

That is correct, among with the serpents. The second wave is only the boss though, not the minions nor the death mages. At least they are all attractable, and the 2nd wave boss can easily be CEed to death.

All of these can potentially spawn with 110+ poison resist in a baal run-

Regurgitator
Skeleton Archer
Willowisp
Claw Viper
Bone Fetish
Mummy
Megademon
Skeleton
Blood Hawk
Skeleton Mage
Succubus
Catapult :hide:

IMHO that counts as 'many' :wink2:

That is true. But, if you look at immune to other elemental attacks, there are much more than poison immune. Thus, I won't say: PLENTY of unbreakable poison immunes :p Unless you are an conviction pally or with an infinity merc, poisonmancer can handle most of the immune himself. For some of the annoying unbreakable immune, you have few options:
1. DV them and pass :p (that is what I do for most of them, normal monsters only, though).
2. Let your merc/minon kill one of them, then, boom boom boom (CE FTW :p)
3. Since most of poisonmancers have 3+ pieces of trang set, you can cast fireball/firewall on top of the LR. Not fun but doable as long as you have a way to hold the monsters (by your merc/minon, DV, bone wall /prison, attract......).

If you are looking for attacks that can not be resist, you might check out cheezedin :p Don't get me wrong. I have one cheezedin myself :) Not much fun to play but great for rush/key runs.

BTW, I love to see everything get green, then, die all in once :p

Some of these do not spawn on WSK 2, WSK 3, nor throne room, though I would agree that Chaos runs are probably better.
