Thats not gonna work if you're a melee char unless you've gambling on picking up ral/ort runes on a regular basis.

I think the idea is pretty cool but since my best char is a lightning spearazon, I'm gonna take ages on the LIs (no CB in gear except gloves.) I'll give it a try though and see how long it takes me for act 1 :)

If someone wanted to do an MP game with this I would be most interested. I have a level 85 skelemancer or a level 86 chain lightning/frozen orb sorc that could deal out good damage and still have some reasonable mf.

As for the person who claimed to find a Tyreal's off Pindle, but then when he/she got found out, thought it was off Eldrich (sp?) or Shenk, but then got found out about that, I seriously think you need to do one of two things:
a) Post to clairfy your situation
b) Run and hide for a while

Umm, nope. Shaeffer's is indestructable and my Kingslayer zerker axe only consts about 15k (high estimate) to repair. On /players8, so many exceptional armors (and other things that sell for max) drop, even in NM, that I don't need to worry about repairs.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't edit anymore.

Allied_Justice just hit clvl 79, which means Shaeffer's goes on. Previously he had been doing slightly under 3k damage with a Kingslayer Zerker Axe and now he is putting out around 3.5k max damage.

Setup is this:

Shael'd Shaeffer's
Kingslayer Zerker axe (PI's or heavy groups of LI's)
Buriza du Kanyon (ON's and other VERY dangerous monsters)
LoH/ghoulhide
CoH
HoZ (p diamond)
T-God's
Angelic Combo
Raven
Gore
Tal's Mask with AR/IAS jewel.

Right now, he has around 13k AR, which is enough to hit anything in the game. The cool thing about that is base AR rises by 20 every level (8 from Shaeffer's and 12 from Angelic) plus the one or two dexterity points I need to add to keep blocking at max.

I have been running the pit for the past three levels on /players8 and I am VERY happy with the results. I was cruising along faster than any melee character I have ever had in the game, even with the kingslayer on.

My merc is wearing a RT/Guillaume's Face and Shaft. I believe we can handle everything except Iron maiden effectively (although I do have a buriza on switch for that).

With the above setup he has around 1,050 life and 100 spare stat points. What do you think I should do with those? I am leaning towards pumping STR since I can leech back nearly everything in one zeal, and the extra damage would greatly help my quest for /players8 full hell clear, and life can be added from charms.

Also, resists are through the roof, so I have no need to worry about them.
As for defense, I've got over 10k and it's rising about 300 every slvl of HS I put in. Defense will not be a problem.

From what I see so far, I believe this character is FULLY capable of completing the challenge given enough time. The only thing that worries me is the Chaos Sanc and the WSK. Ancients should be a breeze as long as I don't spawn "cursed" or FE.

I just completed act 1 on /players5. It was a piece of cake. I have no doubt /players8 will be much the same.

Throughout the course of act, I found an Io rune and this:

CRG--could you post a screenie or ATMA readout of the Kingslayer Zerker Axe's stats? (or AIM them to me, I suppose. :p) I'm thinking of making one and am curious what it ends up like.

It really is a great weapon. Honestly, I have never had more fun with a one-handed melee weapon in the entire game with the lone exception of Shaeffer's Hammer (I had a Shaeffer's Titan IronFrenizer back v1.09 that tore through everything, and now I have this character).

I recommend you make one, especially if you are going to make a zealot. I am also going to make an Iron barb using this weapon later.

Damn, I just missed the edit deadline.

Well, I have completed my first anticipated obstacle. I ran into PI's all through the Maggot Lair and the Far Oasis. And they succumbed to Decrepify. The maggot lair was not very difficult, although it did take a good 20 minutes because I had to use vengence/conv on most of the PI's.

So far only 3 potentially dangerous situations have been encountered.

The first came when Rada spawned FE. If you know it or not, Rada deals a huge load of damage when he dies and the FE explodes. I wittled him down (rather quickly) and let the merc get the kill.

Also, a Lightning beetle spawned FE in the Maggot Lair. In the past, I have died from them because of their dual elements. Again, I got its HP very low and let the merc kill. Even with 85% adn 20 straight absorb I was taking some decent hits from it.

Also, I checked and I have 71 stat points left. I also added 350 HP worth of vita charms bringing me up to 1300 HP, which should be enough for a melee character to get through the game easily, even with my sick and twisted challenge. Thus, I am going to use an SC to check how much damage I can add with one point of STR, and if it is decent, I'll drop the rest into STR.

On another good note, I found a Colossus Crossbow (from the FE/LE beetle in the lair) and a Thundergod's Vigor from an urn in the Far Oasis. This is turning out to be a profitable run.

Also, for you rune junkies, I have found an Io and a Hel rune thus far.
