    I wanted to do 100 pitruns and then report but I got hooked on Pindelskin so who knows when I am going to finish them.

    Runs done with bonemancer level 89/90, mf 627, one run took from 12-20
    min dependant on map, monsters, my mood etc., average time 14-15 min.

    Starting with players set on 1.

    Congrats on Great finds, these two will come in handy Sacred Armor, Corona. I started to keep tract of pit runs but I stopped playing with my paladin, so I guess I'll never finish them(44/50 at players 8).

    So there is an negative adjustment to MF when the /players increases from 1 to 8?

    Many people have stated before me that the number of uniques and sets is about the same at any player setting and less then one in average.

    Uh, yes i have changed some equipment thats why mf went down.

    He probably changed his equipment after bringing up the players so he wouldn't lose too much killing speed. I also have 25/50 done still need to do the second half and so far I'm pretty happy with the results.

    There are others who can shed light on this subject more clearly, but here my attempt at idiot's guide to players and getting rich quick. (Note: Credential of Idoit status can be confirmed by contacting anyone I know)

    No, the players command actually does not directly affect mf. It does however increase the number of items a monster is likely to drop. Therefore making your chance at getting a unique or set better. (There are exclusions to this rule)

    Remember speed = more monsters killed per hour. (mph :D )
    and players increase = more possible drops per monster.

    You just have to find a balance between killing speed and drop rates for your type of char. IIRC, boss drop (like memph running) odds for dropping unique/sets do not GREATLY improve beyond players 3. (They do improve though.)

    Hope this helps some. There are numerous articles on diminishing returns for mf % and players settings. Then before you know it, you will be talking about TC's, area levels, and other things that utterly confuse me.

    Thanks for the help. Your explanation will suffice as I don't want to fall into the abyss of the mathmatical theorems and quantifications of MF, leveling, etc. Basically I'll just leave my chr on /players8 for as long as possible. Again, Domo. :thanks:

    Great explanation chase_encode.

    I'm in the middle of putting 750 runs from various players on Baal vs Pits, but unfortunately not many people run Baal anymore.


    So Far though, Pits average a little over than 1 Unique/set per run on Pits and about 2 Unique/Sets per run on Baal.

    @ Takis: i know this is purely circumstancial, but after doing many Baal runs for the MFO (unfortunately I didn't keep track of the drops) it seems to me like you get more set/unique drops from Baal, but his chances to drop TC87 are very small... i did notice that in all of my runs i found far fewer TC87 items of any sort from Baal then i did from the random monsters on the way to the big nasty. i would find multiple TC87 items on one run on the way to Baal on most runs, but found only a few from Baal... total. :cheesy:
