4 sock swords
any one handed swords be 4 sockets?
broad sword and long sword are the only 2 that i can think of now, the broadsword would be best to make spirit in if that is what u want to do
ya it is, is nm good to get 4 socks in the sword?
If you're making "Spirit", go with a crystal sword found in Act5 normal.
ive done like two long sowrds and a crystal sword, bought and found in act 1 all got 3 sockets, does it matter where i find the item? will nm get me 4 socks for a crsytal sword found in act1
If you do the Larzuk quest you always get the maximum possible number of sockets. However, if the ilvl is low enough the max number of sockets is reduced. That's why you don't really start seeing 4 socket armor until you get towards the end of Normal difficulty.
Stuff found in normal mode cannot get more then 3 sokcets, even if it could theoretically have more.
Not even crystal swords dropped from Lister the Tormentor's mob? And I'm quite sure I've found 4s pala shields in act5 normal.
A crystal sword needs an ilvl between 26 and 39 (both inclusive) to get 4 sockets max. If it has this ilvl Larzuk will give you the right number of sockets.
All monsters in Act5 have an mlvl which is at least 31 (if D2data is correct for this, which is not certain...) so crystal swords dropped in Act5 normal should be OK.
Beware, however, that the Bloody Foothills and Frigid Highlands are alvl 24 or 25 only, so probably if it is dropped from a chest in these areas the ilvl might be under 26 (I do not remember the ilvl rule for items dropped by chest, I guess they inherit the alvl).
Don't really know with normal, but in hell, chests drop from their own act TCs (which in turn contains other TCs) and ilvl = area lvl. This is why chests in the pit drop high ilvl items, but can't drop high TC items.
(BTW, don't use the term "alvl" when referring to area levels, "alvl" usually means affix level)
That's right, although I'm not sure with respect to paladin shields. I was talking about items having sockets on their own, however.
what about monarchs, if i socket in nromal will it get 4 sockets, if found in nm hell, can ancient shields get 4 they r so big
The only non-paladin shields which can get 4 sockets are the monarch, the aegis and the ward, all being elite shields. As the monarch has the lowest str reqs, it's the typical shield being used for 4 sockets runewords.
