3 players starting fresh, what to do?

I'm considering playing diablo 2 again but this time i'll be trying out hardcore mode with 2 other people. Now one is set on making an assassin but i'm wondering what sort of trio would be suitable to compliment each other all the way to hell.

So far i'm thinking of:

Venom Assassin with crushing blow + mind blast spam
Max shout+BO barbarian with frenzy
Necromancer with max skeleton to cover our backs and compliment us with amplify damage.

What do you think? The problem i'm thinking of is that without a decent weapon my barb might be a bit useless except as an act boss tank where i'm hoping he'll have the defenses to go toe to toe with them and not die.

Rolling a cruel weopon, or shopping for one only takes a few hours at the most, I suggest shopping, it may be a bit before you can get somethign amazing but it usually holds you over.

Thats not a bad combo to start with.

Necro - has all the curses and army to take the hits. So thats a great choice.

Barb - well more life and defense is always nice. However, Whirlwind may be a better choice for your main skill, since it doesn't have synergies. Finding a weapon may be tricky, but you can always try low level runewords like strength, honor, black and the sort.

Assassin - If they are dead set on playing just an Assassin, not a specific build, I would go with trapper. Possibly a kicker seeing as how you only really need a good pair or boots for damage, and amp will complment that.

If this is your first time playing HC, good luck. Oh and if you do make 2 melee builds, watch out for Iron Maiden. Use berserk alot, and blade fury, or let the Necro do all the work.

Which realm by the way? Just wondering.
