2 sepparate accounts through wireless router

Hello everyone!

Me and a friend of mine want to play D2 on Battle.net on our laptops. We're connected through a wireless router and have dynamic IP's assigned through the router. The internet connection is also a dynamic IP one.

My question is : can we play D2 on Bnet while logged on simultaneously, without having lag or fearing possible ban and/or account deletion?

We logged on for like 10 minutes tonight and we had some problems after a few minutes of play - lag and then we couldn't join or create any game until we re-logged in but we don't know if this is because of some problems with their servers or due to our simultaneous log ins...

Help is appreciated!

were you signed onto the same account? Because that causes all havoc on the bnet realms

NO!

Each has his own account, own chars, own CD-Key, own laptop etc.

In which case i cant see why you would have a problem. Given that the wireless speed of each laptop is sufficient and the speed of your actual connection big enough for the two of you.

Yes, the speed is sufficient.

So there shouldn't be any problems on behalf of Blizzard, right?

well battlenet has been a bit dodgy recently. Not really sure on the reason why. It settle down eventually tho.

I was referring to any problems in the sense that Blizzard could possibly see this as a threat and ban our accounts or something like this.

I think we did get a short 5 minute ban (i think that's what this means : "Your connection has temporarily restricted........" ) but i don't know if it was because of what we did or something else.

Bottom line : can Blizzard block/ban our accounts for what we're doing?

No. Playing two people on the same connection is nothing wrong. Lots of people play this game "together" this way.

This usually occurs when you join/leave games too fast. It can also occur when the game is heavily spammed by some graphically intense spells. (This was implemented to prevent people from exploiting lagging games for illegal purposes)
It is nothing to be afraid of, happens all the time. Keep in mind that this can range from a few minutes to hours -and in some rare cases, even days.

Bottom line : can Blizzard block/ban our accounts for what we're doing?
No. They only ban accounts if you violate any rules, such as using third party programs, hacks etc. You only try to play the game as a multiplayer game (as intended), and as long as you have two pairs of cd-keys etc, you are doing nothing wrong in their eyes.

From the battlenet forums:

Multiple Users on the Same IP:

If you're connected to a network with the same external IP (assigned by your Internet Service Provider), and two people are playing simultaneously on battle.net, there's a good chance that battle.net will view it as a single user using twice the bandwidth of a normal user, greatly increasing the chances of an IP restriction.

I have had my IP temp banned, so it seems to me as if having more than one computer run battlenet on the same network is a no-no now.

I used to play with 5 accounts at the same time using the same internet connection. No problems there.

Always playing 4 chars from same account in the same game with the same connection. No problems.

2.5 year old thread resurrection, that's 2-3 points out of 5. Damn "similar threads" feature. Damn Google.

Regarding the topic: Probably by running it on several Windows users in parallel, in 5 separate virtual environments or on 5 computers or a combination. You need 5 sets of game keys in any case, of course.

Edit: Your point is probably what you mentioned in your other thread. That might be a different than running the game 4 times in parallel, but without all being in the same game.

I play 2 accounts on occasion from the same PC (different copies of D2 on different users).

From what I understand, as long as you have unique installs with paid-for copies of D2, there's no problem.
