2 handed, 280 fhr druid viable? discuss!

I remember before the massive forum crash that there was an experiment underway for a 280 fhr fury wolf. This hits 2 frame FHR and gives a possible viability for going up against stunning players such as assassins, fireball sorcs, bone spear necros, etc. I'm trying to puzzle out if it is possible or even desireable, and/or if the person who was building this back in the day can give me any insight.

Basically this will be anti caster, anti v/t, and it might be able to duel one handed melee druids (not sure. I've done it with my GPA ber shaft druid and won some, but not many with only 42 FHR) but my real goal isn't to melee with it.

So far I'm thinking of the following:

shael shael CoA = 70 fhr, 15 dr, 30 res
Stone armor = 60 fhr, 15 res
verdungos = 10 fhr, 15 dr, or a rare belt would have 24 fhr with res, life, str, etc.
bloodfists = 30 fhr
shadowdancers = 30 fhr

so right here we have 30 damage reduced, and 200 fhr; or with the rare belt 15 dr and 214 fhr

So this means I would need 80 fhr or 66 fhr from other sources in order to make it work.

here is the first idea, which is basically an anti-fireball 2 handed setup:

upgraded ribcracker with a rare 15 ias fire/light or res all mod jewel
use 2 raven frost rings and a nokozon relic amulet (20 fhr)
this hits 280 with verdungos or a 10 fhr rare or crafted belt

another option I am looking at is sort of wierd because the jewels would be rare to find :

weapon would be a tomb reaver, non eth, with 15ias/7fhr jewels. this would give an additional 50 res to my stack, better range, a 4 frame attack, and more immediate damage.

or if I socketed it regularly I would have to go with 16 3/20/5%fhr small charms.

There are so many possible combinations that it is dizzying. I mean of course I would rather use a highlords wrath than a nokozon amulet for the most part, but will it be viable?

Come on tech junkies! (welt where are ya?)

5 frame attack is okay, but 4 frames is much better, also, don't use any two hand weapon with less than range 4 in p v p.

Your limiting the gear far too much. Doing this would mean you are only effective to those class's you listed {if you are infact effective vrs them!}.

I would instead suggest investing in 10x shifting gc's of balance {totals 120%fhr}. This would open the doors for much better gear options. Already with just your ideal crown of ages & stone & bloodfist you would have 280%.

This would leave open slots for highlords/gorys for deadly strike, and room for whatever belt you wanted. You could also sacrifice the shael runes in the crown for ruby jewels of truth or sinny jewels of truth {40%ed or +15 all res / 7% fhr}, and invest in your fhr belt.

And as everyone stated, using a 2 hand weapon as your main isnt a good idea. I'd keep a good one {ebotd gaint thesher = sexy appeal + range}, on weapon switch just when you need it.

Uh... correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the IAS stated for this build is off-weapon. Will this still have a noticeable effect? Or, is this point completely invalid due to something I've overlooked?

The only OIAS in here are from bloodfists. Maybe you're mistaking fhr for IAS?

Anyways, 2 frame hit recovery in my opinion is a complete waste of gear and charms. 200 less fhr will yield slightly slower results which you will probably hardly notice except maybe when dueling a fire trapper.

The amount of life/damage/skills is hardly worth sacrificing for that much fhr and only 1/25th of a second less hit recovery animation. You may be able to run from traps a bit easier, but vs all of the other things you listed, it's totally pointless since they take much more than 2 frames to get off another attack.

Yes... indeed that was a stupid mistake. I thought it was all about 2handed attacks with a 2frame attack speed. Well.... I'll just be running shamefully away from this thread now.

I dont think its worth the sacrifice to go from 3 to 2 frames. However if I did do it I would use a tomb reaver mainly because you do need a high range weapon for this build IMO.

stone = 50
dungos = 10
bloods = 30
ber ber CoA 30
32 x 20/5 life/fhr sc's= 120
annih
angelics
war travs

this will getcha 46 dr 280 fhr 4 frame attack. But Im dont think the extra fhr bp will help you that much.

I think the fhr-build is a quite good idea, if not better than others then at least a bit different and still viable :)

However, perhaps a 4 socket armor with 24% fhr would be better than stone when socketed with 4 ed jewels of truth?
That's a total of 52% fhr, 8% less than Stone but you gain up to 160% ed which should make a big difference with a two-hander.

If you really like the higher defense though then this is clearly nothing for you, but I'd use it over Stone :)
