BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (CBS News) ?

A gunman opened fire on a center where immigrants were taking a citizenship exam Friday in downtown Binghamton, killing 13 people before committing suicide.

The suspected gunman was identified as 41-year-old Jiverly Wong of nearby Johnson City, N.Y., a law enforcement official said.

"It obviously was premeditated," said Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski, noting the gunman blocked the rear exit with his car. "He made sure nobody could escape."

The gunman calmly walked in the front door with two handguns: a 9 millimeter with extended clip and a .45 caliber, CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports. Sources say he was carrying a satchel with extra ammo, a large knife, a flashlight and what appeared to be survival gear - a sign that he was prepared for a standoff.

Sources told Orr that Wong owned two legally registered guns - but it's not yet known if those were the same weapons used in the spree....

More shooting spree in US I wonder if having the name Jiverly has any part in how his life turned out.

He was able to kill 13 with 2 clips. Say... he has 28 bullets. So he got 1 kill per 2 bullets.

In any case, I think it's time to arm all or arm none. And since we have like hundreds of millions of guns already. We might as well arm everyone.

I want to go down shooting back.

I don't trust most people to keep their dick out of the zipper when closing it, let alone safely operate a firearm.

I don't like the feeling I'm getting from this one. I can see some very disturbing political moves following this particular incident. More so than most shooting sprees. I'll have to watch what happens the next few days to see if I'm right.

In the mean time I think I'll go pick up that handgun I've been looking at buying. :thumbup:

Good luck. Handguns and ammo have both been impossible to find since Obama took office.

I heard on the radio that they interviewed his co-workers from the factory he worked at a few months ago. The factory closed down. They said one of his hobbies was shooting at targets.
