1 Quick question, shield choice

The one item that i am not sure about on my sorc is my shield. Should i go the predictable route of SS? or is that too much wasted skills points? Its a Blizz sorc that would prbly on baal and MF

My gear would be

Nightwing
Maras
COH
Fathom
2 x soj
Arach
Magefist
Eth Treks

Does the 35% DR on the SS make up for the huge Strength required? Ty in advance

It depends... I have always thought that a blizz sorc can neglect blocking... so Whistan's is out! I think that due to this statement, the dmg red% can be neglected as well... I have always seen Rhyme to be a nice RW, put in a Grim Shield, it can be very nice, and also supply you with a nice little 25% MF boost. Lidless is another option, but I would only consider it if it pushes you past a FCR BP, to make your runs faster.

Sanctuary is a nice option:

Nice Blocking, Defense and Resists. Plus 60 charges of Slow Missles (nice to have the added defense in Hardcore) And you get to choose what your shield looks like
:yep:

Then you'd be sacrificing stats for looks.

If you make a sanctuary, and you'll be getting max-block, then go with Tower Shield, best stats and very low requirements.

If you wont be going max-block, put the sanctuary in any normal shield, not elite or exceptional (higher requirements for what? defense? i sure hope you wont be melee'ing :flip: )

However i reccomend max block, its very helpful in certain situations.

Tower shield is 44% Base Block but has steep strength requirements. The "bone" shields have 40% Base Block but have lower strength requirements Judging from arreat Summit, there doesnt seem to be much defense difference between the exceptional and elite versions of the "bone" shield so you can wear a decent shield for under the Strength requirement needed for Tals Set

Granted it doesnt matter because you teleport as a sorc but Tower shields are classified as heavy (the "bones" are light) so youl run slower

Bone and Grim shields can only have 2 sockets, Sanctuary needs 3. Troll Nests have a 100+ strength requirement, as apposed to the 75 strength needed for Tower Shield. I don't see how 75 is steep, especially when there are sorcs using Stormshield.

And although you'll run slower, when you run you lose 1/3 the block rate, so unless your dodging some missles, teleporting might suit you the best.

Acck Cant beleive I didnt notice the 2 sockets max on the grim shield. However According to Arreat Summit the elite version "Pavise" can hold 3 sockets with an strength requiment of 106. True, A caster sorc should avoid being in melee range but a decent defense certainly cant hurt.

In regards to strength I just hate pumping the damn thing just to wear equipment (plus im kinda biased againt stormshield)
