for your defensive pally I would recommend a cleric build - but mostly the prayer aura. Max prayer, 1 in cleansing, 1 in med (that is the main aura.) there is a unique with + to holy bolt. Might merc is your friend.

The holy bolt could be your anti-undead weapon/ heal merc in a pinch weapon. Otherwise, your job will be balancing meditation/cleansing/salvation and running around trying to hit stuff with your hammer :) (I said trying - it will be missing most of the time)

Have fun!!

I made a curses-only HC necro in 1.09, who eventually died to Hell Ancients, so I´d say reaching 1.10 Hell shouldn´t be too much of a problem in SC...

He didn´t use Confuse/Attract or Life Tap. Instead, he had a rogue mercenary doing all the killing. Dim Vision was the main skill for crowd control, with Terror as an alternative. Amplify Damage, Lower Resist (against PIs) and Decrepify were used to speed up the killing when less crowd control was needed. Decrepify was also used to keep speedy melee bosses at bay.

I used skills from other trees (provided by items) a total of 5 times:

* Bone Prison against NM and Hell Duriel (+ Iron Maiden). The necromancer himself was the IM target for Duriel in Normal. Pretty cool, huh?
* Raise Skeletal Mage against NM Nihlathak, to clean up corpses from the ground. I never tried to fight him in Hell. Was going to if I had made Guardian.
* Fire Golem against Hell Diablo.
* Bone Prison against Hell Ancients. Backfired (I ran out of space), and he got killed.

In 1.10, the melee mercenaries are a lot better and can easier get better weapons, so it´s probably easier to have one of those. Any of the 7 types will do, really. Give him a big hurty weapon and use Life Tap liberally and other curses to give him fewer enemies to tackle at a time.
But a rogue would be more stylish...

I have a very detailed (over 40 pages, a real beast) story of the whole event. I can mail it to you if you want.

I don't need nor have time to read a 40+ page story but if you have the final stats and skill allocations that may be helpful.

I like the attract/iron maiden idea, I dont know maybe enemies killing themselves just sounds cool. But your right using a rouge for a merc is style and using a bow with elemental damage is style so stylish sound like a good way to go for a merc. Better yet I could throw the eth rattle cage on the merc for CB damage. Was thinking about this for the passive barbs merc though.
