Finding items in diablo 2 is based solely on luck, you may be able to increase your odds of finding better items, but ultimately it comes down to how lucky you are. No one really "deserves" items or "earns" them, you just grind out runs until you get lucky.I really just don't understand botting. Firstly, if I had a bot running and collecting me dozens of HR's and high-end stuff I'd really feel like I didn't deserve the loot. Secondly, during a month of this new ladder I've managed to gather a fortune of around 50 ists and a couple of high runewords. And I don't have a slightest idea what the hell I should do with all these runes (as I don't do PvP)! Why would I (or anyone) need a bot to create insane wealth while already my self-found wealth is way too much for me.
We don't do FG here. Not all is gone for a legit player though. Though MFing is pretty hard to make wealth with with the glut of botted items everywhere, services like rushing(especially classic hell rushing) and level services are actively traded for high amounts of fg.
Of course it's all about luck but I think it's different finding that Griffon's Eye or 2soc CoA (or in my case 20/19 pala torch) on your fifth MF run than on your 400th bot run. Even though you've been damn lucky to find it so fast you've at least put some effort into it and you've probably planned on putting a lot of effort into it. Setting up a bot is just giving up and taking the easy road.Finding items in diablo 2 is based solely on luck, you may be able to increase your odds of finding better items, but ultimately it comes down to how lucky you are. Secondly, it sounds like you've just been incredibly lucky with your finds if you've gotten that much stuff. I've managed to pull together about 20-25 Ist worth of items in a month or two and I've considered myself VERY lucky indeed.
I stopped playing again about 5 months ago, just completely sick of the fact I could not play MP without constant spambots filling up the screen. Also did not help that nobody plays the game anymore. Day after day I could find no actual games where people were doing something. It was all spambots, baal bots, Chaos bots, etc..Sorry to necro this thread from the depths of Page 3.
Was contemplating playing 1.13C before the launch but decided to see how the economy / state of game looks like first.
Based on this post, I gather that bots are still a mainstay in this game. How about duping? That was what really killed the interest in the game for me. Has this become prevalent again given that 1.13C has been out for sometime now.
I've always been playing alone or with 1-2 RL friends in private games, even on bnet. The point for me using bnet at all is trading, not multi-player gaming.I think the point of using a password protected private game pretty much defeats the whole damn purpose of Multiplayer gaming. If I want to sit in a room all alone, I could just as well do that in SP.
I'm not sure about the duping. Within a week of reset there were countless paladins teleporting about with +775 enigmas made in 15/15 superior archon plates. I was aware of a rollback exploit that allowed players to continuously retry their runewords until they get a perfect roll, but the huge volume of Jah, Ber and 15/15 archon plates still had to come from somewhere. Did they all come from 24/7 bot runs, or were they duped? How about duping? That was what really killed the interest in the game for me. Has this become prevalent again given that 1.13C has been out for sometime now.
O_Owhy would an Angelic Halo be 0.79€, more expensive than a Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band? Insanity.
Would that be the fabled constricting ring or a ring of conning noobs?I wonder how much Krischan's Con Ring would go for?
Where do you think we got UberKrishnoober from?Would that be the fabled constricting ring or a ring of conning noobs?
No wait, they're the same thing. Aren't they?
I also visited one of these sites (and sent them an angry email about the spam XD and the funny part was, I actually got a reply) and I was looking at some of the rare items.. they are asking $100 for a pair of boots i saw :S No wonder they need to spam every game if that's what they want people to pay.Personally, I'd like to see Blizzard open an item shop of their own, where they could offer items that were not botted or duped, simply generated on demand as they were sold. Blizzard could offer that service cheaper and with fewer disruptions to legit players, putting all these item shops out of business. If I were a game designer, I'd have done that years ago.
I visited one of those item sites a short time ago, to see what exactly all the spam is about. What I saw was a semi-professional site, asking outrageous prices for items. I mean, I get why a SoJ would cost 0.98€ on nonladder, but why would an Angelic Halo be 0.79€, more expensive than a Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band? Insanity.
