(1.13 d SC) Need WW IK barb jewel advice

Hi guys,

I am looking for some advice with regard to which jewels to use for my whirlwind barbarian using IK set. Because I have minimal experience with ED/min/max dmg/strenght jewels hopefully someone can help.

I have 3 sockets for jewels, 2 in IK helm and 1 in IK armor.
For my IK helm I was thinking of using these jewels:

Strenght will lower my hard points into strenght for IK weapon and armor and strenght itself plus ED will up mu dmg output. I also have 37 and 39 ED jewels. Is it a good idea to use the ones with lower ED, but with strenght instead of the clean ED ones?

Secondly, for the armor I am thinking of using a 37 ed+1 dex jewel or the following one:

I think that overall this jewel might result in more dmg than the 37ed one, but I am completely unsure whether this is correct and if using a jewel like this is a complete waste of the jewel or not.

Any advice?

I found and did two sets and used a rune or two as well.
Shael in the weapon for example.

if your building him and have not spent str yet more is better as need to spend less on min needed (with some charms etc not much really needed though some parts help others.) but check lvl reqs etc.

Generally, you'll be better off with the clean damage jewels, because str and off weapon ED adds to the same part of the damage formula. Each point in str (when using maces) is 1.1% damage, so a 40%ED jewel will always beat a 30%ED 9str jewel when compared just for damage.

If it is life you want, or a combination of safety and damage, you're probably better off using perfect amethysts in the headpiece (+20str) and then a perfect ruby in the armor.

Using top-end jewels for IK set should only be done by those who really love their set items, as there are far better alternatives than this set (mostly due to the weapon) when it comes to damage.

Thanks for the advice all.

Primarily my aim was to up my dmg output, but I thought I could combine this efficiently with strenght jewels. However, for that purpose dmg jewels with adds are better I realise now.

One problem is that I am unsure how rare some of my damage jewels are and if they are a waste to put in IK set. I always like how IK barbs looked, but I dont love m, so I dont want to waste a jewel on "mediocre" gear.

I am tempted to use the damage jewels below for my headpiece and armor, but I think they are too "good" for the armor and I should save them for a future melee char.

After giving this some more thought I think my ED/Str jewels can find a better purpose somewhere else as well.

Conclusion: I will return to my primary aim and use 3x 12/13/14 max dmg jewels (+dex/cold dmg) lvl 50, which are useless to me and have no real value.
