The new bug:
Blizzard got lazy with the bug fix, and simply added some code that would multiply the defense by 1.5 whenever a cube recipe modified the actual item - rather than tying the special code to the upgrade recipe, they tied it to the 'modifyitem' property of the recipe (+level requiremen to be specific). However, the socket recipe also performs 'modifyitem' property of the recipe to add sockets - resulting in the defense being multiplied (again) by 1.5. Although the SoJ socketing recipe adds sockets as well, it does so without using the 'modifyitem' property of the recipe. Thus, it bypasses the bug. (Note, 'modifyitem' may or may not be the name of the property of the recipe, it is merely used as a placeholder symbol in the above description).
Tempered items would also be affected, if they were enabled. Such a strange way of fixing a small bug.

There's a hitshift missing for buglightning. I wonder where it defaults to.
Don't think I posted this on dii.net yet. While testing Jab dmg of the Black Lancers (Matron's Den) I could not get the edits I did in monstats.txt to work in-game. The other .txt files worked just fine, so I can only assume this new quest has lots and lots of hardcoded aspects. :grrr:
