I'm going to go ahead and take this to mean that we list the top 10 people that we are currently listening to, rather than our top 10 of all time. If I've misinterpreted, that would definitely change my answers. Regardless:

1. Fall Out Boy
2. Senses Fail
3. Immortal Technique
4. The Starting Line
5. Sage Francis
6. My Chemical Romance
7. Alkaline Trio
8. Atmosphere
9. Nas

Jeez, this is going to take some thinking. I've been listening to a lot of stuff this past month.

1. Team Sleep
2. Mew
3. Lemon Jelly
4. Firesign Theatre (audio comedy from the 60's & 70's. good stuff)
5. Unkle
6. Ben Folds
7. RJD2
8. Bjork
9. Plaid
10. & some older Dave Mathews stuff along with some Coldplay and some My Bloody Valentine

Also, Eff, I've been listening to some Madlib, gorillaz, godspeed you blackemporer, and velvet underground recently also. The Madlib stuff I've liked as well as the Gorillaz (whom I've been a big fan of for quite some time), and the Velvet Underground Stuff was alright. But I just couldnt get in to the Godspeed stuff. Is there an album you'd recommend to start off with?

And I'm really considering getting the Yesterday's New Quintet CD but I'm short on cash and it'd be the only CD i could buy for a while. Would you suggest getting it? I've listened to the few songs and samples I could find and so far it's sounded terrific. Lemme know what you think :)

GYBE! falls in the category of Love-It-Or-Hate-It. I'm not sure what type of music listener you are but they are not the type of band you can check out one or two tracks in the form of some low-quality mp3s or should listen to in the car with a bunch of friends. Their albums are long, sweeping, dramatic, ambient, and generally just plain weird pieces of art and are best appreciated when attentively listened to. Sorry to waste your time if you already knew this :D

Dim the lights, turn off any distractions (TV, Computer) and put on "Slow Riot For New Zero Kanada." It's my fav.

definitely get the YNQ cd, angles without edges (i haven't heard "stevie" yet). it's by far one of the top 3 intrumental albums i've ever heard, one of my top 5 overall favorites as well. Madlib totally perfected the album, it get's better every time i hear it.
godspeed is, like the guy above me said, kind of an accustomed taste. I have "Yanqui U.X.O" and "Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven!" (two out of the dozens of godspeed/godspeed related albums produced). yanqui is about patience (really slow buildup), and therefor sounds like little more than silence if you aren't giving it your full attention. Lift your fists. is a 2 disc album (2 songs on each disc...heh) which i'd definitely reccomend, mostly because of tracks 1 and 3. Very good album, but by far not their best.
i'd probably suggest for you their debut album, the first 2 tracks, which i've heard via my brother, are a couple of the best i've heard from them.
i'm still sort of trying to explore godspeed too, i'll keep you updated when i get some new albums.
check "and yet and yet" by do make say think. like godspeed, it's intrumental post rock, but alot more psychadellic and alive.
