    ¡Carl! ¡Eso mata las personas!

I was happily hacking away translating random stuff into Spanish and then I heard my sister quote Llamas With Hats:

    "Carl that kills people!"

So I tried to translate it but came up with some problems. Usually I translate from English to Spanish, but, on some occasions, I translate from English to Polish and then to Spanish to double check my grammar. However, I still cannot decide which translation is correct. Should it be:

    "¡Carl, eso mata las personas!"
    or
"¡Carl, que mata a la gente!"

Both to me are the exact same thing however I think the first one is the correct one... Any Spanish speakers to help me out with this XD?

The first one sounds better but idk... my Spanish is allright, though you may be able to use both.

I enjoy using babelfish - totally useless but pretty amusing for me.

    I need a new hobby.

The correct translation would be: "Carl, ¡Eso mata a las personas!"

Eso mata a las personas then ^.^ I was pretty close :D

Wouldn't matar translate to "to cause death" then?

Yes, the difference between your first guess and the correct one is minimal. Regarding the question, "Matar" is a verb, which literally means "to kill". "To cause death" would be "causar la muerte".

It's better to use "mata a las personas" in this instance. "Las personas" refers to many people in general, whereas la gente refers to a group of people.

Both choices you listed are actually incorrect. The second one is has poor subject-verb agreement, and the second one is missing "a." Whenever you refer to a refer to a person, you need to use "a." Valhauros' suggestion is the best.
